    Advantages Advantages Vibrant, shiny colour

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a bit messy, staining

There has been a severe outbreak of vanity in the Bespinleia household. Not usually being one for lotions and potions, my one vice is hair colourants. Not because of any early grey, but because only my best friends would call my hair colour 'mousey', innocent bystanders and the less kind would probably describe it as 'gerbil'. However, they would be wrong, the actual, definitive colour of my hair is 'dead gerbil'. I will admit that in the summer sun it can stretch itself to 'glamorous hamster', but it being the Scottish winter it is most definitely 'dead gerbil' at the moment. So from time to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Washes out, Cheep

Disadvantages Disadvantages I dont have the patience to wait

Oh, it has been so long since I have seen the sun. When you have dark blond hair, the sun is your true friend, a few hours in its shinning glory will bleach the hair and make it shimmer with gold. However, this affect can only really be achieved while lying on a beach in the Mediterranean, in my experience, the British sun just won't do. Yet I have not been on holiday for nearly a year and it doesn't look like I'm going anywhere fast, the fantastic bleaching affect has long since worn off and I am left will a mass of mousy blond hair that just hangs there, lacklustre like a nihilistic teenager ... more

    Advantages Advantages gradual change

    Disadvantages Disadvantages smells horrid

Well I'm fastly approaching the Big 40 in August, presents can be sent to my address if you email me lol. Everyday I'm noticing my hair going thinner and the streaks of grey getting thicker. That's when I thought "Sod it", I must put a stop to natures helping hand and sort it out. I've been reading various ops about the super Poundland store and seeing as though a new one has opened up near where my wife works I asked her to pop into the place to check the hair dyes out. Not that I didn't want to be seen buying a hair dye of course, but I work shifts and it's awkward for me to get out (Ha Ha) ... more

Advantages Advantages Lasting power, Good range of colours, Easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Messy, Colour Not Exactly as on Packet

This mousse came out a while ago and at that time the range of semi-permanent(6-8 washes) hair colours were not very good. Viva colour mousse was an exception. I've used two colour of the range, Bordeaux (a rich mahogony) and Cassis (a deep mahogany) The mousse was very easy to use, came in a blue compressed tube and smelt ok compared to some of the worst I've smelt (baring in mind i used to work in a hairdressers and had to suffer from the smell of peroxide every week) Bordeaux turned out to be a rather bright reddish brown (not exactlty as i expected) which is why i tried Cassis (as i wanted ... more

Advantages Advantages Easily applied, non-permanent, user is totally in control of application, great value, huge variety of shades.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None - honestly!

Colouring your hair for the first time can be extremely daunting. Whilst the mirror is screaming for something vibrant and new, a little voice in our heads is repetitively droning 'what if it all goes wrong?' The fear of our hair turning a bright amber, poodle blue or palma violet is often too much to juggle with. So, time after time, we put the hair colourant back into the bathroom cupboard and stay with a nice and safe shade of mouse. But this is a tragedy in the name of hair-colouring. Imagine the infinite possibilities that colouring your hair can have. It is the perfect way to feel a ... more
