The Searchers
Review of The Searchers DVD by irishlad20

Advantages: Entertaining, Challenging, Emotional, Exciting, Makes you see how dangerous the Western Fronteir Was
Disadvantages: None

The Searchers is widely recognised as one of the best westerns ever made and rightly so. It is set in Texas in 1868 at the end of the Civil War, A war that John Wayne Known in the film as Ethan Edwards took part in, the Film opens with him returning to his brothers farm from the war. The scenery at the start of the film is breathtaking and is seen from the opening of a door and it seems to be emphasising the harsh and dangerous environment of Texas ...
...story of the film is the search for Ethans neice Debbie who has been kipnapped by Indians under a Chief called Scar who also killed his brother and the rest of his family including Martha who it seemed Ethan had feelings for. eastwood at his best
Review of Unforgiven DVD by worth_a_read

Advantages: great story. great acting
Disadvantages: none i know of

...was invincible, so when the unforgiven begins and you see Mr Eastwood as a run down pig farmer, to me it was an unwelcome shock. As the film develops though you understand that it is a very necessary part of the film. The movie is packed with stars including Gene Hackman and Morgan freeman, each and every one of them giving an outstanding performance. I have watched this film over and over. I'm not going to describe the whole film scene by scene. ... Read review

Costner strikes lucky on the Open Range
Review of Open Range DVD by pmcds

Advantages: Greatactingsanddirecting
Disadvantages: Very long, simple plot

...review, I would say that Open Range is a recommendable film, with great directing and acting. The plot is not overly complicated, rather simple, in fact, and follows many other films with a similar plotline. This does not stop the film being good, but limits its potential, as the combination of cinematography, directing and poignant acting is smooth, and you feel they could have given more with a more adventurous tale. Be prepared to settle in for ... Read review

A brilliant biographical film
Review of Wyatt Earp DVD by tayloa22

Advantages: extremely accurate
Disadvantages: early years of Wyatt Earp feel a touch rushed

...accurately on the story of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp. Born March 19th 1848. Wyatt would come to spend his adult years during the wildest period of the frontier. Wyatt Earp became legendary as a lawman, and his greatest feats are being the man to clean up Dodge City {One of the most violent frontier towns in the wild west} and for the Gunfight at the O.K Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. This film came out a touch later than the fantastic Tombstone starring ...
...purchased it on DVD. Wyatt Earp is a lenghty movie, but needs to be, to get as much information across as possible about the man. Initially the film starts with Wyatt Earp Played by Kevin costner, just verging on adulthood. His father is played by another fantastic actor, Gene Hackman. Here the seeds are sown for the man Wyatt would be, by his father who preaches things like nothing matters more important than blood {meaning family} and if you ever ... Read review

Review of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
Review of The Good Bad And The Ugly DVD by blackhawk1984

Advantages: Fine performances; and storyline
Disadvantages: None

It is definitely one of the best movies, I have ever seen. With the american civil war as the background, three bounty killers set out to take into their possession, a large sum of money which was buried in a grave by a dead soldier. Circumstances bring them together and they strike an agreement as Clint Eastwood alone knows where the money is. Clint Eastwood is instrumental in his performance. There are many power packed dialogues, which linger ...
...several funny imprecations. The background music has become history. The scene where Clint Eastwood blows a bridge is dealt with beautifully. There are some funny instances where Clint Eastwood becomes a prisoner of the Union forces for appearing in a confederate uniform. The movie is full of surprises. All in all a great movie to watch. ... Read review
