After many years of being fed up of flimsy small pools that did not seem to last one summer, let alone try to store it for next year, we tried to find one that was large enough for our family of 4 children and comfortable for a couple of supervising adults We were fortunate to be visiting a local discount store and saw the pool for sale for £129. Thinking that it must be a mistake we confirmed the price with a salesman and ordered one to be picked up the next day. Although we have a small garden, we have a large piece of land and felt that the pool was not only suitable for the children to play in along with their friends on the land, it would serve as an ideal water storage tank for our gardening venture.
The pool was very easy to erect, it took two adults less than half an hour to put up. The liner is made of substantial heavy gauge plastic and is nothing like any pool material that I had ever seen before. The instructions were very easy to read and follow, and even included instructions for the use and maintenance of the filter unit. All seams are double plastic welded and there is one hole in the side that is filled with a bung and screw lock plastic cap for the filter to sit in or to release the water from. Around the whole outside of the pool runs a fabric band and a rope for correct positioning of the legs which prevents the l.egs from splaying under the sheer weight of water. There are 10 plastic hollow tube upright legs, that rest in plastic cups for even weight distribution, which suspends the pool liner from post to post using top frames poles, which are also made of the same plastic, but slightly larger bore to avoid any confusion in assembling, and T pieces which are then fixed into place with small plastic pegs that lock the frame firmly together. Inside the pool are restraining bands for the filter tubes to go through Filling the pool however is a different story!!. I have no idea how long it takes to fill from a hosepipe, but I would recommend that you might consider filling the day before. We use a petrol water pump to pump the water from our lake to the pool, and that takes about two hours. I would also take into consideration when thinking about buying this pool is whether your house in one of the properties with a water meter!! When full, the pool looks spacey, grand and inviting, it has been in use for the second summer now, and has never failed to provide hours and hours of enjoyment for mine and many others children (Always under strict supervision of course).
There is sufficient space and depth to teach smaller children to swim, but the pool is also small enough to encourage confidence in non-swimmers. The filter is a great idea, however slightly impractical in the middle of a field and has remained dormant in my shed since new. The filter is not to be used with anyone in the pool, it simply is turned off when the pool is occupied, and switched back on when empty of all occupants. I am aware that there is a 10 ft version of this pool although I have no idea of the cost.
For a large garden, where you do not want a permanent pool, then this is an ideal choice. Even in properties with a water meter, the filtration system will keep the water clean for most of the summer and will only require top ups during this time. Chemical water cleaners can be used in this pool, and when properly used, without any ill effects to the liner.
I feel that there are very few disadvantages with this pool, mainly the fact that it is not possible to buy steps for the pool, and the price. It is an expensive investment, but in my opinion worthwhile for hours of fun during the summer. The company who distributes the pool also has a GB help line number and are happy to supply replacement parts from T pieces to entire pool liners for a charge. Store the pieces carefully to prevent any lost pieces.
