Oohhh, got the keys to my new house, the place is a complete tip but hey, it's MY tip. The big move is on Sunday. Okay... "big shout out to Arcuntil42". BTW, could lazy tweens who don't bother to return rates please stop slating those who do?

The Wharfedale LCD 2610 HDAF would normally retail for £349.99 though I managed to snap mine up as an ex-display model in Argos for just £279.99. Looking on the Argos site they no longer appear to stock this particular model though you can expect to pay £299.99 for the nearest equivalent. Although I hadn't actually intended to buy a new living roomtelly when I saw this, I wound up making this purchase after they knocked the sale price down from £309.99 to £279.99 to make the sale (I was buying an ex-display bedroom telly at the time - see my last review).
Although you'd expect a 26" television to be quite heavy, I was very pleased to find I could get this indoors without too much bother. At around 7.5kg, it was perfectly manageable compared to the great 30kg prehistoric number I struggled to de-throne. Once situated on top of my TV cabinet, I looked at it and felt really proud to own a piece of nearly new modern technology for a change even if it was a cheap version!
The set up was easily done; I plugged in the power, slotted in the aerial and inserted the scart plug from my DVD player. I had the options of hooking up a second scart lead if I wanted to as well as additional speakers or even my PC though I had no need to do this. I then hit the power button and followed the automatic on-screen set up process which searched for my television channels. It took about five minutes to find everything then I just okayed it all and got on with watching Neighbours. All in all I had this television up and running in less than ten minutes.
The quality of this television has been a noticeable improvement on my last one. Although I couldn't claim to notice the difference between high definition and regular definition if tested on the matter - I did find that in comparing it to the quality I'd been used to there was a noticeable improvement. I had the choice of viewing my television on three different screen size settings which is ideal for viewing all kinds of DVDs and films (pillar box, widescreen etc) and I found that I had no need to fiddle with the contrast and colour settings as they were detected automatically for me. Watching on a flat screen made it feel as though I was watching a much bigger picture than I'd become accustomed to though in truth my new television is in fact the same size as the old one (26").
I also noticed a considerable improvement in the sound quality and would liken it to the time I watched a friend's television with surround sound speakers. The speakers on this model are situated either side of the screen, facing forwards, to give the viewer a good all-round sound. If it wasn't good enough for me, I did have that option to plug in additional speakers though.
The features included are sufficient for what most normal people would expect from a television. You've got integrated freeview, now and next information, teletext (this doesn't work on my television though it didn't on my old one either - I believe this is down to my area not the TV); channel update options, manual and automatic picture refining settings. The volume spans over 30 stages (I have no need to find out exactly how high it goes!) and I find this is more than sufficient with each stage offering a noticeable difference in volume. The really benefits of this television are that it's a way to modernise your living room from a style point of view as a technological one by opting for a HD ready flat screen with integrated freeview - but at an affordable price. Okay, some people might look down their noses at Wharfedale (the new Goodmans as I sometimes think of them) but do those people all have 40" wall-mounted Sonys in their living rooms? Thought not.
