Unfortunately I currently share a house with a large number of people for reasons I will not go into and therefore am unable to have my music blasting out whenever I want to.

I spend a lot of time on the PC reviewing, blogging etc and so listen to music through it.
I decided to invest in some headphones and because my father always swears by Wharfedale headphones I decided to get a pair the same as his.

So, I'm currently sitting here writing this with an album playing through the Wharfedale AKC3100s.

What's the sound like?
*************************
It's very clean, by clean I mean no noise that you sometimes get with other headphones or speakers.
The bass is good and balanced and the stereo effect is nice.

What do they look like?
*************************
They have a black outer headband made of hard plastic which attaches directly to the actual ear pieces with an inner black headband made of a softer material - it's plastic but soft and comfortable.
The ear pieces themselves are silver in colour with black padding around where they sit on your head.
There is also a rather sci-fi looking little design on the outside of the earpiece to give it a nice look.
L and R are on the left and right hand side of the earpieces - respectfully - with Wharfedale AKC3100 on them as well.
The earpieces also move to ensure a good fit.

How do you connect them up?
********************************

These headphones are equiped with a black cord connected to the left earpiece of a length of 3 metres with a volume control about half a metre down from the ear in a very convenient place. The volume control takes the headphones from total mute to full volume.
They have a 3.5mm (mini) jack but also come with a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) jack for use with larger CD players and stereos etc.
The mini jack is the size that fits MP3 players, portable CDs, PCs and laptops etc.
The jacks are made of gold and are stereo.

What's the spec?
*******************

OK, for those of you who like numbers and actually know what they mean!

Freq. range: 20-20,000 Hz
Sensitivity: +/- 97 dB S.P.L at 1mW (1KHz)
Impedance: 32ohm
Jack: 3.5
Maximum power output: 400 mW
Length of cord: 3M

Anything not so good?
*************************

The only thing I have found is that there is a little sound leakage even when the volume of what is being listened to is quite quiet.
This is not a problem for the listener but it could be for others in the same room or on the same bus, train or whatever.

So Amanda, what's your overall opinion?
********************************************

Good sound, nice fit, comfortable, nice long cord.

How much will I have to shell out to get me some of these wonders?
*********************************************************************

Well, this is where problems arise.
Currently I have not found them for sale in the high street. It is possible that they have been superseded but another model and are so no longer available but they are for sale, brand new, on eBay. That's where I got mine and my father got his last pair from.
I paid £4.99!
A bargain!

One last thing. My father tends to fall asleep on the floor wearing his and obviously rolls on them and gets the cord wrapped around things but so far they have proved very well wearing and have yet to fall apart.

Hope this has been useful to someone!
