It then worked once before locking again. After several further attempts I phoned Argos technical assistance ... ...the remote u/s. I emailed WHARFEDALE who didn't want to know. They referred me to Argos. The moral must be that you get what you pay for. I will now try a Philips DVP5960 and hope that's a bit better! If not, I'll have to fork out for a Sony. ... more

The new unit started off working fine and then it did exactly the same thing - refused to load and locked making the remote u/s. I emailed WHARFEDALE who didn't want to know. They referred me to Argos. The moral must be that you get what you pay for. I will now try a Philips DVP5960 and hope that's a bit better! If not, I'll have to fork out for a Sony.

Terrible.
Got a cheapo player from ASDA and got this one as an upgrade but turned out more of downgrade.
The packaging fell apart carrying it home. After setting up, the HD picture was 'jerky' with very evident stuttering on some scenes and no better than the cheapy model. Also, when redubbing some off air recordings, the output from the scart was so soft as to be unusable.
Add in the very flimsy tray and it all adds up to a big dissapointment given the quality of my twin tuner DVR by this manufacturer.
Too many corners cut and I wonder what they were thinking?
No surprise Argos reduced the price - it's the only way it will sell. ...
