Advantages: Impressive bass extension, depth and spaciousness Disadvantages: Perhaps it is not as lively as some speakers
The Wharfedale's have consistently made good speakers but for a while now in my eyes, it has failed to make outstanding speakers. Well of that changes with it's latest incarnation the 10.1's which have only landed in the shops in the last couple of weeks. The range attempts to build upon the qualities which made the 9.1's a very attractive speaker but improve upon the areas of sound quality which were ultimately bettered by the Monitor Audio BR2's. Fresh out of the box and onto the speaker stands, in looks alone these speakers look a snip at the price with a very eye catching design which is sure to win the approval of many current fans of hi fi and potential fans alike.
In addition to this despite being rear ported, this poses no problems when positioning them near walls. Therefore takes away some of the notable problems of boom which ...
Advantages: perfect little gem of a film Disadvantages: none
?I?d try to comprehend you but I got a dyslexic heart??
Singles, Cameron Crowe?s 1992 tale of the twentysomething search for love in Seattle, is one of my all-time favourite films. This sweet, episodic mix of neatly interlinking storylines is very human, very funny and has probably the best soundtrack of any film in that decade (yes, that includes Pulp Fiction).
?How did this stuff get so complicated? I don?t know.?
The storyline strands are relatively few, and this is why the film continues to be coherent and believable. Poor Linda has been dumped on more times than she cares to remember, so is in no mood to meet Steve, who might just be the love of her life. Steve?s ex Janet is, meanwhile, in love with her neighbour in the block of ?singles? in which they live, but Cliff is just too wrapped up in his music to give a damn ...

Advantages: Open expansive sound, tight and punchy, can site close to walls Disadvantages: Lacks the power of some speakers but given the price this isn't an issue
The Wharfedale 9.1 has now been eclipsed by the new series 10.1. However this is by no means a reason to overlook this speaker and instead it offers the potential of picking this up at a bargain price. This is indeed what dealers are now looking to do in their bid to offload the speaker.
The speakers while certainly not unattractive, are not the most stylish however this is only an observation and not a fundamental issue as far as I am concerned. When listening to these speakers, it apparent that you will definitely need to site them on speaker stands to ensure that the bass is tight and punchy.
Thankfully if space is limited and despite the fact that these are rear ported, these can be situated near a back wall while avoiding the kind of boom which can go hand in hand with such positioning. This is going to be particularly useful in ...
