Advantages: Region free done with key presses of remote Disadvantages: Noisy motor - Bit slow to load discs
...As seen in TESCO here is about as full a review of the two machines as I can get.
DVD 750 - Available in most large Tesco stores, cost £179.
There are three diffrent versions of this player but most on sale are the newwer chipsets and these have got over the original problems the player had with certain region 1 and 2 discs (more info at the wharfedale website www.wharfedale.co.uk).
This player is indeed one of the best 'budget' DVD's I have seen so far, although there is a DVD 750S too which Tesco are
selling for the same price..... read on
DVD 750s - Available at some Tesco stores (bundled in piles with the standard 750) and at time of writing are available at TESCO.COM
The latest version of the 750 (ie the S) is everything the 750 wasnt! Wharfedale have listened to the public and Tesco and brought out an excellent machine...

Advantages: Price, generally good quality Disadvantages: Problems with certain titles, DVDs must be very clean and Not compatible with all in one remotes
...The Wharfedale DVD-750 has been lauded by many as the best DVD player on the market, with the combination of it's very low price, it's all region compatability and good range of features.
I would largely agree with this opinion - i myself bought the player within a week of it's release, mainly influenced by it's very low cost (although the amount i have now spent on DVD's makes the initial outlay seem a pitance). It is compatible with region 1 discs (press 0,1,2,3 on the remote with the tray out and then press play with an out of region disc in) which is ideal for me because frequent trips to the Us by myself and my family on business give a ready supply of US discs.
The player works very well most of the time and provides many hours of entertainment, and certainly low cost. However, i fell i should point out a few short comings...

Advantages: Multi region capability Disadvantages: Not the nicest looking player on the market
...The Wharfedale DVD 750 has, a im sure alot of you know, the capability to play DVD imports from any other country in the world, including the USA. To those of you who do not understand what this means, film producers decided to encode DVD's so you would not be able to run a UK (region 2) DVD on a US (region 1) DVD player, and obviously, the problem arises for us Brits when you reverse the problem. However, by simply having the disc tray on your Wharfedale ejected and pressing 0,1,2,3 on your DVD remote, the player is set to play imported films. I find this feature completely essential now as i have imported my last two DVD's. Advantages of getting import DVD's imclude better special features often, getting films before they are out over here (I got Fight Club before it has come out to buy over here, and The Green Mile before it has even...

I bought this Box as the TV kept saying the big switch to the digital signal was coming soon. It's a great little set top box, and picks up alot of freeview channels. For example:
ITV2
ITV3
ITV4
E4
E4+1
FTN
TMF
The Hits
Sky Three
Sky Sports... more
I was very impressed with these speakers, although should point out that I'm far from an audio expert. But the sound was extremely clear and well-defined, which is all I wanted (my previous speakers, Q Acoustics 1010s, were slightly muddy and... more
