    Advantages Advantages Good, all round financial information

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Being monthly, tends to be out of date on topical issues

    I have been reading What Investment for years and have to admit that I am thinking of cancelling the subscription. Not that there is anything basically wrong with it - it's just that any monthly publication can only be fairly general. And if you have read the financial press for years, then without being arrogant about it, let's face it, you will be familiar with those generalities. For those new to finance, it's a great publication, explaining in jargon free language all the ramifications of ISAs, PEPs, TESSAs (or what can still be done with the remnants of the latter), unit trusts ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not worh subscribing for a year unless your a regular investor

    I received an offer I could not turn down - 12 months of What Investment for £1 and then you can either cancel or continue at the standard rate. I think the offer has finished now but look out for it again in the future. What Investment is a good magazine to read when your planning to invest a lump sum or monthly savings and not sure which fund to go for. There are pages of info on performance over up to five years so you can gauge the consistent funds and there are fund tips from experts as well as some interesting articles on all forms of finance from banks to friendly societies.
