Whatsapp is a free application for sending free messages to other mobile phone users, making use of your internet connection. The first question anyone ever asks me when I tell them about it is "how much internet will it use?" Well, the answer to this is a little bit geeky, but it's probably a question a lot of people have no idea how to calculate. Advantages Free, fast, notifies you when the recipient has read the msg.

WhatsApp is a messager service, kind of an alternative to sms, but free. It is available to all Android, iPhone and Blackberry phone users. You download the app onto your phone from the app store associated to the phone. I believe the app is free to download for android and blackberry users, but for iPhone users it costs a one off 59p. This however, is nothing when you think about the money you will be saving by using this instead of sms. Advantages Save money on texts, quick to use and message with ease!
Disadvantages Pay to download the app and can't hide from people in your phonebook!

When I first met my partner I was using this application absolutely 24/7. I had an iPhone and he has a blackberry so it was the cheapest way for us to communicate in those early days when you wanna talk to each other constantly via messaging. As an easy to use, quick, and easily accessible instant messenger service, talking to friends and family becomes easy to do globally as well as nationally and locally and I find my conversations continue throughout the day and night.
