Advantages: Story was pretty good and fairly fast-paced Disadvantages: No depth to characters, plot was flimsily held together, very predictable, no twists
...surgery and her life changes when she rents her house to Kit who is actually Tom, and FBI agent. They have one thing in common; he also lost his family a few years earlier, his wife and two sons were killed in an aeroplane crash. He’s been working on a case for a few years but has been ordered off the case and told to go on holiday. (Why is it that FBI agents only seem to solve a case when they’ve been taken off a case?)
The story itself ... ...those with status and power: doctors, scientists, and a whole host of other high up people are working on creating the next step in the human evolution. The driving force behind the project is naturally very large sums of money and the need to be God. (So no surprise there then!) It comes down to the fact that these people are secretly testing on human beings with the cold-heartedness of a hungry lion. They steal babies from women, having told them ...

Advantages: Its original. Disadvantages: Surprisingly Avereage
When The Wind Blows : James Patterson.
My Rating: Worth The Read
Frannie, a vet in small town America has lived alone since her husbands' brutal murder. Although a vet Frannie's closest friends represent some of the creme of paediatric medicine. Her life is very quiet; routine has become... well... routine. She's settled. Of course she still misses her husband and her practice is a little small but she's contented enough. Well set her up; shake ... ...her life and perceptions forever. The arrival of hunk Kit her new and mystrious tenant, the suspicious deaths of some of her friends and one very unique little girl called Max...codename Tinkerbell because of her beautiful wings...
That's all I'm saying about the story I wouldn't want to give too much away. "When The Wind Blows" is as usual well written, it keeps you curious and takes you along for a reasonable ride and the story itself is original ...

Intriguing. Review ofWhen the Wind Blows - James Pattersonby
natfox
Advantages: Very readable Disadvantages: Ending is a bit disappointing
...FBI agent to Frannie, but when they request back up to help them prevent any more people being killed, they find they are more at risk of losing their own lives due to the FBI having underhand connections with the whole situation.
The book revolves around money and greed on the part of these people that have been experimenting on children, and attempting to change the human race. There is also a touch of romance between Frannie and Kit.
I found ... ...look at the kind of possibilities this book has covered, it makes you wonder just what the human race will be like in the future, seeing as we are already creating test tube babies and tampering with genes and DNA.
The book itself is very easy to read. Each chapter is only a couple of pages long, and each chapter gives you another snippet of the story which entices you to continue reading.
The only down side is that the ending is a bit dull. After ...

Advantages: Well written and interesting Disadvantages: It's not an Alex Cross novel
Frannie O' Neill is a vet who owns an animal hospital. One day, a troubled FBI agent named Kit Harrison turns up and shortly afterwards, she makes an astonishing discovery in the woods, a discovery guaranteed to change her life for ever - if she survives.
James Patterson is famous for his incredibly short chapters and this novel is no exception. Here, the chapters can sometimes be as short as a page and never go past around five. It certainly can ... ...reading, although you will probably want to read this in one sitting.
Patterson develops his characters well, although it did seem a bit similar to an Alex Cross novel, although I suppose that once you are in a mould, it is very hard to break it. However, Frannie and Kit were good characters, as was Max - one of Patterson's best characters to date.
The plot was good, if a little bizarre. Genetic engineering is the way of the future, of that there ...

Tube material Review ofWhen the Wind Blows - James Pattersonby
Mercury
Advantages: The concept is interesting Disadvantages: cliche-ridden mediocrity
I've just finished reading this book and having read several of Patterson's previous books my expectations were not that high. This particular book follows the theme of genetic engineering and the creation of children who are half bird and half human. The lead characters, a vet who lives near the lab (or 'school') where the human experimenting is done and an FBI agent who has been following the case for years make the shocking discovery of a girl ... ...characters avoid capture and learn more about the experimenting before the all to predictable grande finale.
The book, whilst it kept my attention enough to finish it, failed to ever capture my imagination. Patterson does not seem to have the same gift as Micheal Crichton who can easily combine science and fantasy seemlessly. To me this book floundered in its attempts to explain the science and relied on endless cliches to try and instill any kind ...
