We purchased the Whirpool AWM1200 just over three years ago and have used it pretty much every day since then (very dirty family!). A couple of days ago, the machine developed its first fault - water leaked from the cold water inlet pipe. This meant that I had to replace a seal at a cost of about 20 pence! Overall, this has been an excellent buy - cost us about £220. The control panel is nice and simple which matches the owner (without the nice bit). We use the quick wash button quite a bit and it does produce good cleaning results but if the clothes are a bit grubby, I would recommend not using this feature. Although there is a good range of spin speeds, I tend to use the 1200 setting for maximum water removal from the clothes. More delicate items would appreciate a lower setting! Due to the pounding that the Whirlpool has suffered, I don't think it would owe us a penny if it died tomorrow. When the time comes to replace this machine, Whirlpool will be at the top of the shortlist.
