Had a Whirlpool AWM 328 washing machine for nearly nine years and apart from a new control panel in its first year, used to just stop before starting spin cycle, never had another problem until just yesterday evening when in the middle of the spin cycle it started to make a horrible clanking sound and had to rush to turn it off. Looks like drum bearing has just gone and died. 8 years is pretty good going I think, and we do a lot of heavy full loads when son is home from uni, usually at least three in a row with no rest periods, this is not including the average of two washes a week that we normally do. Funny thing is that son had same washer left in house that he moved in to lasy January and that one died the same death just three weeks ago. Weird, or what. Anyway, I am currently on line just looking at the range of new Whirlpool washers. Son by the way just bought a new Indisit.
