Meet the consumers’ panel, a.k.a. the feline family We have three cats in our family: Millie, a very small and now fairly elderly tabby, and Augustus and Domino, two rather larger and middle-aged toms from the same litter as each other, about five years younger than her, but not related. Some time ago, we used to feed them Whiskas straight from the tin. Although I have a very weak sense of smell, my wife found the whiff rather too pungent, and she insisted we try putting them on whiff-free dried food. They enjoyed it up to a point, but also tended to have a rather take it or leave it attitude ... more

My cat could never be described as being a fussy eater, in fact quite the opposite is true and she will gladly eat just about anything that is put down in front of her. Nevertheless, I like to offer a variety of food to her, and she gets offered both dry, crunchy food in addition to ’wet’ food such as chunks in jelly on a daily basis for two reasons… Firstly, I think that by offering her both wet and dry food I am meeting her nutritional needs more, and secondly, I think it is only fair that she is offered a variety to stop her from getting bored of eating the same thing day in and day out. I ... more

Ever since our youngest cat has been eating adult food she has always had and enjoyed Tesco's own brand of meat, we give her both dry and wet food but Tesco has always been her favourite when it comes to the meat. That was the case until about 2 weeks ago when she decided she wasn’t going to eat it any more. We tried everything to tempt her but she wasn’t having any of it and would eat around the meat and just eat her crunchies. This went on for a few days and we were wasting more meat that she was eating so we had not choice but to try a different brand. After having a look at what was ... more

It's the fault of our late neighbour that our cats eat these - before she died, she made a friend of our younger cat, and took to buying Whiskas pouches for our cat as a treat. Consequently our cat was always next door and when the lady died, the cat had got so used to these "treats" that we started buying them as treats. Ten years on, a box of pouches is on our shopping list every week. The basic idea of these pouches is that they contain a single serving (approximately 100g, so about a quarter of the amount you'd get in a standard tin of cat food) of enough food to feed one meal to one cat ... more

My current cat is called Guinness and he is a beast of a cat. Everyone who sees him comments on how big he is, but when you are with him everyday you just don't see it until he is sitting next to another cat outside. Anyway, when he was a kitten we always fed him tins of Whiskas and he was quite happy with this. One day I received a promotional pack of Whiskas Pouches through the post and gave it to Guinness that night. He absolutely loved it and from that day on he absolutely refused to eat anything else. Tins were out the window and the pouches had to come in or he would have starved to ... more
