Advantages: Meal-sized servings, good for hiding tablets Disadvantages: Expensive, smell can be off-putting for humans

It's the fault of our late neighbour that our cats eat these - before she died, she made a friend of our younger cat, and took to buying Whiskas pouches for our cat as a treat. Consequently our cat was always next door and when the lady died, the cat had got so used to these "treats" that we started buying them as treats. Ten years on, a box of pouches is on our shopping list every week.
The basic idea of these pouches is that they contain a single serving (approximately 100g, so about a quarter of the amount you'd get in a standard tin of cat food) of enough food to feed one meal to one cat, and are sealed in foil to keep them fresh - you can either rip the top edge of the foil off or cut across it with scissors.
They obviously taste great to a cat (judging by the enthusiasm ours show - they actually seem to be able to hear us take the scissors out of the jar, so if you try to feed one, the other appears like magic) but personally, as with most "wet" dog or cat food, they do feature that distinctive cat food smell which just doesn't appeal to me as a human. Fortunately, I don't have to eat the things but it's amazing how much the cats suddenly love me if I wave a purple packet around, or use "the word".
My personal review of the variety of flavours is probably a bit subjective but anyone who owns a cat might know what I mean when I say cats are far pickier than dogs and they will only eat what they like. Our King Charles spaniel doesn't stop to think whether she likes a food or not - to her, the thought process is basically, "It's food - I will eat it". Not so, the cats. I'm sure they are very spoilt, and they'll eat the jelly variety if they have to but they would much rather have gravy.
There are a wide range of themed flavours - "seafood", "meaty" and so on - as well as other options that mean you can buy pouches tailored to the needs of your kitten, cat or "senior" cat (Whiskas define this as any cat over 8 years old), and as I mentioned there is the option to go for the pouches in gravy or the ones in jelly. The gravy ones are admittedly easier to get out of the foil pouch - if you leave the jelly ones in a cool place (ours are kept in the utility room), they tend to "set" slightly and when you squeeze the foil to get the food out, it sometimes comes out all in one piece and looks like a sort of wide, flat terrine, of the kind you might find in recipe books for human food.
There is no getting away from the fact that - at £2.79 or so for a box of twelve, pouches are very expensive in comparison to dry food (so, of course Whiskas "suggest" that you serve three pouches a day to the average cat) - when a 3kg bag of dry food is around £3.75 and will feed our two for about a week, two boxes of pouches for one cat in a week is heading into "lucky cat" territory. The one good thing about this price is that, just occasionally, the supermarkets put them on offer - generally selling two boxes for either £4, £4.50 or £5 - so that's when we stock up.
One thing they are better at than dry food is the "hiding the tablet" routine. Our elder cat is now permanently on tablets to treat an overactive thyroid and the only way we can get them into her is by hiding them in the contents of one of these pouches. When the tablet is left to absorb the gravy for a few minutes, it gets much easier to mix into the food without the cat noticing.
If you can get your cat to accept a combination of dry food with these as a treat (or for one meal a day) a box will last for a bit, but unfortunately the cats in this house have managed to charm their way into a minimum of two each a day.
Advantages: Looks tasty, less messy than tinned food Disadvantages: Pricey
...always fed him tins of Whiskas and he was quite happy with this. One day I received a promotional pack of Whiskas Pouches through the post and gave it to Guinness that night. He absolutely loved it and from that day on he absolutely refused to eat anything else. Tins were out the window and the pouches had to come in or he would have starved to death. It was that obvious how much more he enjoyed the pouches to anything else.
However it didn’t stop ... ...review will obviously be about Whiskas Pouches Traditional Meat in Gravy.
The box:
You get 12 pouches in each box for £2.89 in Sainsbury’s. The box is a sturdy cardboard with the familiar purple colouring dominating it. The lid of the box is also cardboard and easily removed by a perforated end. There is a picture of a cute cat looking at you (quite similar to Guinness actually) and the description of which type of food you have chosen. In this ...

...my hands on! Though do Whiskas pouches do the job?
Whiskas is a company that provides cats and kittens up and down the country with a selection of fine kitty treats for them to indulge in. One product they offer is their Kitten Pouches; packets of wet cat food to meet the needs of your hungry cat. Why did I choose to purchase these though, over other brands such as Felix? They say you should never judge a book by its cover, but I have always liked ... ...very deep and girlie. The Whiskas kitten can always be found standing by the 'kitty head' logo; a very cute little tabby cat with beautiful golden eyes and a mischievous little smile. Drawn to the box, I purchased a pack of Whiskas Kitten Pouches in Jelly: Meat and Fish.
There are four flavours to choose from within this pack, with three sachets of each kind. As the title indicates, these are a selection of meat and fish tastes: chicken, turkey, ...

Advantages: Taste great, lots of flavours, your cat will love you! Disadvantages: They eat them very quickly
...stuff they give me these Whiskas pouches. I pretend to hate them just to annoy them (you learn this in CAT v Human 101 classes with all the neighbour cats) but in fact I love them.
My owners buy the Whiskas pouches traditional in gravy style. The beef are my favourite flavour but they aslo come in chicken and green peas (you actually get whole realy human peas in them - wow), lamb and carrots (again real human pieces of carrot) and game (yuck!)
... ...I think back to my Whiskas pouches and how my owners spoil me with them. They are steam cooked to preserve the meaty taste so they are really delicious. They also include lots of natural nutrients so they keep my healthy and happy and free to roam around the neighbourhood terrorising the dogs!
You are advised to feed your lovely cat four of these puches a day but if you are really nice to your owner and purr and rub up against their leg and look ...

Advantages: My cats love it Disadvantages: It stinks!
I have 3 cats - 1 is 14, 1 is 6, and 1 is just over a year old. All of them are fussy little things and I have to change their food on a regular basis to keep them happy because they quickly get bored of the same ones, and also the 14 year old has a tendancy to throw up with some brands of food but not others, so I have to be careful what I give him. The only food I've found so far that they all like all of the time is Whiskas Oh So Fishy pouches. They come in a pack of 12 85g pouches for around £4.
Each pouch contains one meal for one cat, so I can't afford to give them these all the time, but I like to always have some in and give them as an occasional treat or when they decide they don't like their current food. This Fishy selection has 3 tuna, 3 sardine, 3 salmon and 3 cod flavour pouches. They are all made with whole pieces ...
Advantages: Magic loves it, doesn't smell too bad, easy to use, good value Disadvantages: None
I've never really been an animal lover to be honest, but we had a few pets in our house growing up, a rabbit and a hamster which were my brothers, and 2 goldfish which were mine. We then went on to get a German Shepherd who is still going strong today, and it made me realise Harry might like a pet of his own. He has an obsession with cats so my fiance and I made the decision to get him a kitten of his very own! Magic was welcomed into our family last Sunday, and is totally in love with him!
I haven't got a clue about feeding cats or anything about cats to be honest, so after acquiring Magic, we went straight to the Supermarket to buy him some food to settle him in. The breeder we purchased him from told us to get either Whiskas or Felix, and we decided to opt for Whiskas kitten food. You can buy it in can or pouches, and we decided ...
Advantages: Perfect sized portions, everything a growing cat needs Disadvantages: Not as environmentally friendly as it could be...
delicious because, although I haven't tried it myself, our 2 bundles of joy tend to lick all the jelly off before eating the meat!
The kitten food is served in small handy sized pouches that contains enough at the moment for a meal for both of our kittens. The foil pouches are probably not as environmentally friendly as they could be, but they are perfect for us as our 2 only eat very small amounts at meal times and I dislike the idea f having an open cat food can in the fridge.
The varieties on offer are cod, tuna, chicken or turkey and each meal contains everything your kitten needs to grow big and strong! Whiskas work very hard to ensure your kitten has just the right amounts of vitamins and minerals, protein and calcium for a healthy body.
We have had our 2 kittens for just 3 weeks now and they have lovely shiny coats, the vet says ...
