Hello! I’m Katy, a beautiful four year old Jack Russell-cross-Chihuahua dog. You may have read opinions by my Mummy, Karen(UK) or my cat sister, Shady. Well, I thought it was time I got in on the act, and seeming as that pesky cat has taken over my windowsill for the day, I thought I’d have a sneaky peek at the computer – and while I’m here, I wanted to review Whiskas Complete.
Yes, I know, it’s cat food and I’m a dog. Well, that’s never stopped me before. Whenever Shady is safely out the way, I sidle over and taste her yummy food, because hers is much nicer than my boring old Winalot. When I saw she had a new box, I tried to be the first to check it out, but Mum sent me downstairs to bed. But later on, I had a few mouthfuls and it is completely gorgeous, even if I have to gobble it quickly, before being caught. Gives a whole new meaning to ‘fast food’!
Apparently, Mum and Dad bought Whiskas Complete from Asda for £1.70. It’s a big box too, 900g, so it should last me – erm, I mean, Shady! – a couple of weeks or so. Mum bought it because it looked good, with nice packaging – the box is purple too and that’s Mum’s favourite colour! It is also quite new out, as it contains nuggets with cheese, which they thought that cat would like.
The food itself looks very nice – lots of bite-sized pieces in nice colours and shapes, with the little yellowish square nuggets of gorgeous cheese. Shady nibbles it up in tiny, graceful mini-bites, but being a hungry dog myself, I can demolish half a bowl of this in a couple of minutes. Shady leaves the food in the bowl all day, the stupid feline, returning to it to snack regularly during the day and night.
The variety of Whiskas Complete we have is chicken, turkey and duck. It is also available in two other flavours – rabbit, lamb and vegetable nuggets, and tuna, hake, sea bream and vegetable nuggets. Hopefully, we’ll get to try these out for ourselves soon, as they do sound pretty good.
The box says the food is suitable for cats over the age of a year, unless they are ‘with kitten’ or breastfeeding (and how many baby cats get bottle-fed??). They obviously forgot to add ‘great for dogs too’ – humph! It also reminds owners to leave out a bowl of fresh water constantly. Mum is very good at this and in fact, I have a choice to drink from my stainless steel bowl downstairs or the white cat bowl upstairs. Guess which I choose ;-)
The food is also great from a health point of view – and considering how many hours that cat spends washing herself, I’m sure this is an important point! It contains proteins, minerals, calcium, natural oils, taurine (for good eyesight apparently) and vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B12.
Slightly worryingly, the food contains only 4% of duck, 4% of chicken and 4% of turkey, so what else is in the ‘meat and animal derivatives’, hmm? I don’t want to eat any old muck and neither does Shady. We like our meat to be high quality, no horsemeat here, thankyou very much!
Anyway, the coast is clear now, so I’m just off to eat a few more bites of Whiskas Complete while I get the opportunity. I can see those cheese nuggets from here. Yum yum. Byeeeee!!!
