We have three cats and up until about two years ago fed them both tinned and dry food. But none are big eaters and we found during the warmer months the tinned food was going hard and dry in the bowl. If you have ever been fortunate enough to experience this smell you will know it is not a pleasant one. So after checking with the vet we decided to switch to just dry food.

We tried various brands, types and flavours. Anything from Hills Science to Tesco own. They had their favourites but generally ate them all except Kitekat, which just sat for days in their bowls.

Then about 6 months ago I received a coupon for the new tastier Whiskas. If you register on their website you will often get coupons and you can even apply for a free kitten care kit.

So we went off to Tesco to buy a bag. As it was also on offer we got quite a bargain. We got Adult 2kg bag. Chicken and vegetable flavour. Prices will vary from shop to shop but Tesco sell a 400g bag for 87p. At the time we bought it they had smaller packs so you (well your cat) could sample it. They also do 2kg bags. You can also choose for Kitten, Adult or Senior.

Like most cat foods there are a variety of flavours but Whiskas are the only ones with the nuggets.
They are crunchy on the outside and meaty on the inside. They do look quite tasty, and one of my cats deliberate picks all the nuggets out so must be very nice. The idea of the nuggets is to help maintain healthy teeth. Our vet has always commented on our cats teeth being in very good condition so guess it works.

The dry food also contains vegetables. Not every cat is the same but I think mine are vegetarians. They like nothing more than a plate of sweetcorn, peas and carrots. So these foods really have the wow factor.

The bag has lots of information foor you. As well as a list of ingredients and amounts of vitamins etc, there is also a recommended feeding guide. This is ideal if you have a cat that needs to watch its weight or for health reasons amounts need to be right.

The food does come in a resealable bag but as mentioned above we have not bought one yet that works. Mainly as both resealable parts are on the same side of the bag. This might just have been a dodgy batch but even open the food is staying fine.

We have since bought other brands again, putting different ones in different bowls (we all like choice, why shouldn't they!) but it's always Whiskas they go for. So definitely a winner in our house.

All that is left to say is don't forget to leave a bowl of water out too.
