I would like to review Whiskas Senior complete cat biscuits, which I have been feeding to my cat Jet for about the last six months. This flavour is lamb, as the only ones available in my local Tesco were lamb or a fishy variety and my cat will not eat processed fish.

No, I am not having a Loopymum moment and I am not trying to send you to sleep, I have been impressed by the product and in true Ciao style I wanted to share my thoughts.

Firstly let me say that I have not eaten the cat biscuits myself. That would be wrong on so many levels, not least of which, denying my cat her food.

While I am sure that some people may find them nutritious and healthy, I still have taste buds and a sense that pet food is just for pets. Plus there is only so much I will do in the name of a decent review.

We only have the one cat, following an accident several years ago when Jet lost her brother and I broke my heart.
Jet is around 13/14.We are unsure of her specific age as she was rescued with her brother and adopted by my other half from the RSPCA.

Background.
----------------
Now as any cat lover will know, cats can be funny little creatures. They will either eat everything that you put in front of them or they will be fussy little beggars who will only eat the posh stuff.
I am lucky in that Jet, while being picky, does not have expensive tastes.

To date the only wet food she will eat is the Tesco's own sachets in jelly. I have tried various other brands with varied price tags and she will have non of it. I have tried letting her wait out a couple of days, giving her other food to get her to eat something more nutritious, but it seems she would rather starve.
Alongside this, she would only eat Tesco's cat biscuits, which if I am honest did not provide her with much in the way of nutrition either.

Not holding out much hope, about six months ago I picked up a bag of Whiskas Senior complete cat biscuits and trotted off home expecting to have to pass the bag on to my Mum as her cats eat everything.

I suppose you wonder why Jet had not tried them before with Whiskas being such a household name.
Thing is, she had tried them a few years back, but I picked up their standard biscuits and Jet was not impressed so I thought no more about them.

The Boring Bit.
--------------------
I am not going to give you the pack details word for word, just some of the more relevant information.

The biscuits are specially adapted for more mature cats. Which in Whiskas opinion is 8+.They are designed to be crunchy on the outside and meaty on the inside.

They provide balanced protein, oils and fibre for digestion , as well as minerals to help with your cat's urinary tract health.(I bet your so glad your reading this.)

The shape and texture of the biscuits are also designed to help maintain healthy teeth.(This is a plus as Jet has a problem when I get the toothbrush and the Colgate out.)

I will not list the ingredients, suffice to say that the bag does contain real meat and vegetables and lots of healthy vitamins and minerals.

Also a point of fact, the biscuits only contain 8% ash. While I am sure this is more than other brands. I have seen a lot worse listed on some pack ingredients.

Also the huge bonus is that Jet cat loves them, eats them by the bowl full and has shown some improvement in her day to day life since starting to munch them.

The Biscuits.
-----------------
The biscuits themselves are rather small, but then so is a cat. The largest bit is less than a centimetre square.

The pack contains green bits which have peas, orange bits which contain carrots, brown bits which in this case are lamb kibble, and lighter brown squares that are filled with meat.

Why a cat would want peas and carrots is lost on me, however Jet does not leave any specific pieces behind in the bowl as I expected her to.

They smell just like other cat biscuits to be honest. It's a pet food smell that cannot really be described but anyone can distinguish.
They do not however smell cheap, if that makes any sense. They do smell more meaty than other cat biscuits I can recall.

They are also not as hard as a standard other cat biscuits I have bought.
They do still have a crunch to them as I have heard Jet eating them, yet they feel like they have more moisture than other biscuits.

In Conclusion.
-------------------
I am not going to offer up these biscuits as the best thing ever produced, however Jet loves them and she is a fussy little thing so Whiskas must know something.

Since I started to feed her these, her fur has become softer and shinier.
She has also put on a little weight, which she need to do as she resembled a supermodel in the cat world.
I know cats are meant to be sleek, but there was never a spare ounce on her before and considering her age and decline in exercise, she should have been a little fatter.

Also in recent months I have noticed that she has slightly more energy than she had before.
Jet has always been very active, yet now she seems to have more bursts of energy than she had previously.
Taking into account that it is winter and like most cats her main goal in life is to spend as much time sleeping on the bed as is felinely possible, Jet does seem to have more mad moments than she used to.

At the moment her main source of amusement seems to bee chasing the streamers on the wind sock in the garden.
Bearing in mind she has to traverse the 6ft fence and a massive pergola to climb onto the shed roof to get to the wind sock, I don't think she does too bad.

All in all I do think that Jet has benefited from the change in food.
A 1kg bag costs £1.97 at my Tesco and considering the benefits I am more than happy to pay this.

Recommended, as long as it is for the cat.
