I started using Whiskas (®/TM Whiskas, Trademark of Mars, Incorporated and its affiliates) ,approx 6 months after acquiring a re-homed 3 yr old Persian. I was told very little about her diet expect that she was a fussy eater and only ever ate dry cat food. She began to loose lots of weight and I decided to try her on some tempting tinned cat food.
After trying many "premium" brands in luxury little packets, I almost gave up as she would not eat any of them. Almost in desperation I tried Whiskas in jelly varieties. I found the price very reasonable 2 tins for £1.05 at a local corner shop, renown for its high prices, but later purchased form my local Asda @ £1.89 for six mixed variety tins.
The packaging is cheerful and gives the feeling of quality. It appeals to the owners idea of giving their pet the best. I especially like the tins not needing a tin opener. They are safer and less likely to lead to cut fingers as the lid eases off in one pull. I was surprise when opening the first tin to find what looked and smelled like high quality meat in quite solid jelly (not sloppy like some brands).
There is a great deal of variety of flavours, but I tend to stick to chicken, chicken & rabbit and tuna as being a vegetarian, I reason, maybe wrongly, that my cat is more likely to be able to catch these than say a cow or a lamb, and I don't want to deprive my cat of meat just cos i don't eat it.
As mentioned earlier, my cat lost lots of weight and when she began to eat Whiskas she eagerly got stuck in and gained much weight again. I wanted to make sure I was giving her all her dietary needs so looked up the Whiskas website.
I found to my delight that it had a membership page and a newsletter section. Also it offer lots of free advice and information and has advantages for becoming a member. I found advice on ever aspect of caring for and feeding my cat. I have written to the customer services asking advice many times and they have replied speedily and with concern, answering all my queries.
They also have an excellent Kitten page and are offering free kitten packs full of samples, vouchers and all sots of information. In my opinion Whiskas not only produce high quality cat food but also offer excellent after care service to all cat owners.
