Advantages 100% nutrition, dental protection plus.
Disadvantages Tab opening.
Our 10 year old cat Parker was our first baby but he does get a lot less attention with two children in the house and is no longer no. 1 although still very much loved!
A few years ago he had a touch of gingivitus where his teeth was a little orange around the gumline and we had to brush his teeth for a time.We have used dry cat food for some years now and currently are feeding him Whiskas 100% nutrition with Dental Protection Plus in order to stop the teeth decay getting worse. I prefer dry food as it is in my opinion less messy and also less smelly than tinned/wet food and stays fresher for longer.
This food contains no artificial colours or flavours. The current flavour he is partial to is duck & turkey although you can also get chicken and tuna.A 950g box cost me £2 from Tesco's - it's a bit like a cereal box and has a tab on the side which theoretically you can pull out and then reclose but I aso struggle to open and close this carefully enough to count as a resealable tab so for an opening that I assume is meant to close fully and keep the food fresh, this in my opinion fails dismally and I therefore remove one star for that.
The fomula supports healthy teeth and the texture of the nuggets is slightly abrasive so helps to keep your cat's teeth clean which is great and those of you who have ever had to try to clean your cat's teeth because of a problem would appreciate this the most! The formula also includes Taurine which helps support a healthy heart and natural oils are included which help keep your cat's coat shiny. Vitamin A helps maintain good eyesight and a balance of minerals help to keep your cat's urinary tract in good health.
The dry food contains larger nugget pieces which although crunchy on the outside, are soft on the inside you at least your cat gets a little bit of variety instead of all just crunch. The back of the packet gives you an idea of how much food to feed your cat although we tend just to feed parker when his bowl is empty and he comes to seek us out and leads us back to his bowl.
The vet has recently cleared him as incredibly healthy inside and out and a lot of this must be attributable to his diet so I am happy to stick with Whiskas as I do feel it does offer really good nutrition for cats and covers the main areas where cats can have issues, particularly with their teeth, coats and urinary tract. Our cat seems happy with this choice too and always tucks in with relish so this dry food gets a thumbs up from him too.
This dry food also comes in different sized bags and is sometimes on offer in Tescos.Always ensure that this dry food is served alongside lots of fresh water.
Thanks for reading. x
