Linotti Pinot Grigio..wow what a find in tesco!!!
Advantages: light, refreshing, fruity little number Disadvantages: pricey but worth it
I decided to purchase this wine only due to the fact it was half price in Tesco the other week. What a find...i'm in love with a bottle of wine!!!! It was so nice I had to go back the following day to stock up on it..and needless to say it didn't last long!! It's so light and fresh without being too sweet or harsh. It has a fruity taste and very drinkable. I won't baffle anyone with techno wine talk as I dont know any all I can say is it is definately ...

Iona Sauvignon Blanc 'Top South African Sauvignon Blanc'
Advantages: Classic Sauvignon, versatile all rounder, Disadvantages: I really cannot think about anything negative to say about this wine
...South African producer Iona. The Iona vineyards are some of the coolest in South Africa, being situated in the cooler area of Elgin, traditionally an apple growing area. Andrew Gunn must be complimented on his vision and dedication to the Sauvignon Blanc grape. 12 years ago there were only apples on this farm when Andrew purchased it (previously he was a businessman from Johannesburg).
The wine has all the classic characteristics of the Sauvignon ... ...The wine is midway between the Loire Valley Sauvignons and the Marlborough Sauvignons of New Zealand. At around £10.00 a bottle I feel it is good value for such a class act and in my opinion it outperforms most French wines in this price range.
Drink on it's own or try it with fish or chicken dishes. It goes especially well with these in cream based sauces where the zingy acidity compliments well. ...

Flagstone Free Run Sauvignon Blanc...wine bargain of the year!!!
Advantages: Great value and delivers quality above it's price Disadvantages: Not really any negatives
This wine has to be the bargain of the year when Majestic had it at the sub £4 mark in October. The wine is fresh, fruity and has excellent Sauvignon characteristics. It is easy drinking and can be enjoyed on its own or with white meats and fish.
South Africa is really excelling with this variety and wines from the cooler, coastal, regions are really producing top class Sauvignons. If you liked this try the Iona Sauvignon Blanc from Elgin, which ... ...it in stock at just under £10). Wines from Walker Bay and the ward of Elim show show beautiful fresh, fruity, minerally expressions of this grape variety. It could be described as midway between the Loire and New Zealand but I prefer to say that it has a unique South African style. ...

A wine with my stamp of approval
Advantages: complex and well balanced Disadvantages: none
I have cracked open a bottle of wine tonight, and it has sparked me into review mode. I am really impressed by it, but I will explain that later. First off, I need to review the main grapes in the wine. I think that it is important to understand a wines make-up, in order to appreciate it fully. Semillon The semillon grape is considered to be one of the fine white wine grapes. It, along with muscadelle, and sauvignon blanc, is one of the three ... ...grapes in Bordeaux. It is relatively easy to grow, and is hardy to most disease. The worst that it gets as a vine, is a touch of rot. Similar to chenin blanc, it is very thin skinned. This makes it prone to sunburn. Unlike the chenin blanc, However, it is full of flavour. It is low in acid, and very sweet to the taste. This natural sugar in the grape, will eventually become high alcohol in the wine. After all it is the fermentation of these natural ...

Gallo family mix it up
Advantages: Good price and a smooth crisp drink Disadvantages: bottles too small !!!
Garnet Point Chardonnay-Chenin Blanc So the ghost and ghouls were out in force halloween Saturday - so were the spirits - hmm - was never one for the white spirits - a nice dark smooth brandy or rum yes, but not what was on offer at this party. Then I spotted a familiar green bottle sitting in the ice barrel !! Picking up the ice-cold bottle I recognised the Chardonnay before me. It was Garnet Point - a great favourite of mine. I enjoyed the bottle ... ...~~~ Packaging~~~ Garnet Point Chardonnay-Chenin Blanc is a crisp, California wine that is presented in a stanard 75cl pale green bottle at 13% vol. Thus allowing the drinker to see the clear, pale colour that reassured me it would be a rather dry, white wine. The bottle displays a bold front label with matching neck label. ~~~~ Price~~~~ I picked this bottle up for £4.99 in our local Co-op store but I also know Tesco's and other large stores sell ...
