Lindemans Golden Nectar

Advantages: Taste and enjoyment
Disadvantages: UK prices

I only wish that I could say that I owned this product............my actual ownership of my favourite tipple seems to last but briefly. Slightly oaky and golden yellow in colour, this Australian Chardonnay is my glass of summer. I am confused though recent bottles seem to come with either a plastic plug 'cork' or a heaven for fend screw top seal, and I thought that this was a premium product. Nevertheless it still tastes great, creamy and oaky ...
...tastes even better when you buy by the case, normally 6 in a cardboard box. Again the premium image?? However another real pleasure comes from purchase in Calais or other continental locations. For something that can cost you nearly £8 per bottle here in UK, temporary ownership can be realised for as little as £2 to £3. We are already planning the next booze cruise ...

Cheap plonk for a Friday night!

Advantages: A happy medium (explain later), often on special
Disadvantages: Not sure its worth it on normal price

Next to my block of flats is a Sainbury's local. It isn't good for the big shop but it is good for nipping in for some fruit and veg, or a bottle after a hard week of work. Every week they have around 3-4 brands half price, quite often this one. I`ll be honest, I`m tight, and so always aim for the half price wine. I work on the principle that it's a nice brand, but half price which is better than getting an own brand for 14p a bottle less or so! ...
...fan of red wine whilst my partner is. When it comes to white she likes dry whilst I prefer the sweet. Not overly sweet, but fairly sweet. This is where the happy medium comes in from the advantages section :) The wine is a fairly heavy white wine which is good for "her indoors" as it's edging towards the red end of the spectrum but its white so I like it. It is also a good medium balance. I like it for the fruitiness whilst she does not find it too ...

An Aussie White to Avoid

Advantages: It's Chardonnay - which many people like
Disadvantages: Poor value for money

...when we come to the Hardys Stamp.) Next on the list came Tesco Own Able Australian Chardonnay. This was a very new wine and surprisingly fresh tasting. Retailing at around £4 a bottle, again, it relatively good value. Hardys Stamp came last (out of four). As I mentioned above, many Australian wines are oaked (does not have to be mentioned on the label). The oak adds a certain fullness to the palatte but can be used to try and give a poor wine a ...
...been done with Hardys Stamp Semillon Chardonnay. In fact, I think the oak is overpowering. ~ HARDYS STAMP CHARD-SEM TASTING NOTES ~ The Hardys Stamp has a very poor, what is called in the wine trade, mouthfeel. I would describe it as tasting pasty with a sourness that shouldn't be there. What tastes in the Jacobs Creek like a mixture of fresh grass (typical of Semillon) and caramel (typical of Chardonnay), in the Hardys Stamp is verring towards ...

Diamond Label?

Advantages: Nice taste, very pleasant wine
Disadvantages: Price

Rosemount Estate, Diamond Label Chardonnay (vintage 2004) is an Australian wine by which I was impressed when a fried of mine invited mi to a party some time ego. Before that day I used to say: there is no good wine but French. All the New World wines were only cheap addition to proper French staff. History There isn't much history behind Rosemount Estate as you would expect typical New World progress. Rosemount is owned by Oatley family and Southcorp ...
...is the entry level for Rosemount wines, it consists of: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Semillon. The Rosemount wines were introduced to UK market in earlier '90 and successfully established its position, especially Chardonnay thank to rich texture and standard application of American oak. Bottle As for the New World the bottle of Chardonnay is much different to traditionally ...

History of the Wolf Winemaker

Advantages: Tastes delicious
Disadvantages: None

...vineyards throughout Southern Australia. WOLF BLASS THE MAN Wolf Blass was born in East Germany in 1934. After working in the European wine industry for 13yrs, he moved to Southern Australia in 1961. In 1966 Wolf Blass registered the name 'Bilyara' (aboriginal for 'eaglehawk') which can be seen on the Wolf Blass bottles. From 1969 to 1973 Wolf worked as a winemaker and manager of Tolleys, going on to make original wines under his own label. MAKING ...
...the grapes, gently removing them from their stems. The grapes are crushed and the juice is extracted. The clear juice is decanted off. The wine is fermented in oak barrels. The wine is clarifyed, ensuring that it will stay clear. The wine ages to develop its bouquet, then it is bottled. TASTE This wine has a lovely peach and melon character, with oak flavours and a creamy texture. FOOD I have enjoyed ths wine with cheeses and chicken dishes. ...
