After his death, Bobby finds the picture of a beautiful young woman in his pocket, then leaves the body with another man as he rushes off to fulfil a commitment.
The death is put down to suicide, and the man's identity becomes known after the picture found in his pocket is published in the newspapers. But Bobby and his friend, Lady Frances Derwent, become suspicious after Bobby is invited to go to a South American country to work and then is nearly killed after someone puts a strong dose of morphine in his beer.
