I love my Nintendo Wii and love playing new and different games on it. I recently played the Wii Music but unfortunately this was one game that I really did not like.
Wii music was released in 2008 and allows players to simulate playing with real musical instruments. You use either the Wii remote or the nunchuk to play the instruments. THe disappointment for me was that the instruments were just not realistic enough. For example, I love Wii Sports because I think the tennis, bowling and actually all the games are really realistic and it feels like you are actually there playing the game. With the Wii Instruments it did not feel like you had a real instrument in your hands and also the Mii characters on the screen just did not react well to the movements. It was more of a chore trying to play the instruments and I gave up pretty soon after we starting playing the game as I found it quite boring and not that fun unfortunately.
The game does offer you quite a wide variety of instruments to play but plaing each of them pretty much felt the same and there was not too much difference between them in my opinion. However, if you want to learn about musical instruments then this is quite a good game for you. Some of the different instruments involved include the sitar, maracas, trumpet, harmonica and piano to name but a few.
They have a really annoying professor that leads you through the game who has a really annoying voice and actions and this for me is one of the worst parts of the game.
There are various different game modes on the Wii music that allow you to play the instruments in different ways. Handbell harmony was actually my favourite game. You use your Wii remote or nunchuck to play the handbells by just moving your hands up and down like you would with a regular bell. You play them when the note turns a different colour on the screen and it's just like a guitar hero game which I love and quite fun to do.
There is a drum game which lets you use the Wii remote and nunchuck just like drum sticks. It's somewhat realistic but nothing like playing real drums to me.
There's a orchestra game where you wave your Wii remote just like a baton to conduct your very own orchestra but I found that I was just waving my arms in the air and not much was really happening.
In conclusion, Wii music is just not a game for me. It is rated 3 years plus so I definitely see this as a game for very young kids because any older and I think this game is not realistic enough although it does teach you about basic music terms and instruments.

Advantages: Classic songs are thrown in, 60+ instruments, not too hard, value for money. Disadvantages: Songs aren't in their original quality, you need two or more motes and wi-fi for the best in it.
