Wii Music

I got Wii Music when I was in one of my many local town centres. I had some money on my Game Gift Card so I decided to buy Wii Music. Plus, I heard the reviews were very good. (80% Official Nintendo Magazine UK)

Gameplay

You start the game off by selecting a Mii which will represent you. (If you have a Wii, you will know about Miis.) Then you get this teacher that says he is really good at music, (he is) and he teaches you how to play music. You start off with 'Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star'. Finally, you save a video which you watch.

Afterwards, you're free to do what you want in the world of Wii Music!

Jam

This is the option you select when you want to play a song. You progress through the game, getting more songs and instruments. The songs aren't really that great because Nintendo have only picked classics. I'll Be There, Daydream Believer, Wii Sports, and Super Mario Bros are some of the best you can play. The rest are just Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star related. That's OK but I think it would be great if you could connect to Wi-Fi and download more songs. A few of the instruments are a bit hard to play, from my point of view, the violin is the hardest to play.

Lessons

I think you can guess by the name that this is where you learn to play music. The more you play the game, the more lessons you will take. The advantage about taking the lessons, is that you can unlock instruments and songs.

Games

Play games to unlock music and instruments. I will now give you a rundown of the three games.

Handbell Harmony

What you do here, is choose one of five songs, these songs can be played with a handbell. E.g. O Christmas Tree. You are given a colour which is the colour of your handbells. When you see your colour go onto a vertical blue bar, shake the wii-mote or nunchuk. In my opinion, this game is good, but the colour of your handbells change colour every time, this is confusing.

Open Symphony

Ever wanted to conduct an orchestra? Now you can! You are the conductor. You need to conduct a famous piece of music, (Carmen.) or a not so famous-but everyone knows it, piece of music.(Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star.) You play by waving the wii-mote in time to the music, not much else. However, it doesn't matter how violently or crazily you shake the remote, the same level of noise is produced.

Pitch Perfect

There are 10 levels of Pitch Perfect. This is the hardest game of them all. There will be a noise coming from the speaker, and you need to drag the Mii making the right pitch as the speaker. In others, place the Miis in order from lowest to highest pitch. In the final mini-game of each level, you will need to drag the Miis into their correct places to make the same five-second piece of music as the speaker. This mini-game is fun because it's never the same level twice. Levels 7+ are hard. You have been warned.

Videos

This is where you can watch all the videos you have created. You can sent videos to friends over Wi-Fi, change a videos popularity points, or delete a video.

Drum Mode

This is where you use your Wii Balance Board. Place your feet on the WBB and hold the remote and nunchuk in your hands. This is really difficult and how you can remember how to do a symbol I have no idea.

Graphics

With every Wii ___ game, (e.g. Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit) there are the graphics. They are always N64ish. It's the same here. The instruments even look like they've been imported from an N64.
Sound

It's a music game so it will make a good use of your speakers. You will always be able to hear the songs clearly, however, you don't get them in their original quality.

Value for Money

I brought this game for £19.99 from Game because I found it in the Preowned section. I think this is brilliant value for money.
Difficulty

Well, it varies doesn't it? Pitch Perfect is sometimes a bit hard, violin is hard and F-Zero Mute City Theme is really difficult. Most of the songs are easy to play. But occasionally, you find the song which is really hard.

Longevity

It's a great game which you will play day after day until you have done all the songs. If you have no Wi-Fi in your home, you may find a lower longevity than someone who does. If you've unlocked all the instruments, the longevity is greater.
Multiplayer

You can play with up to four people and play songs, however you will need four wii-motes and possibly nunchuks if you want to play with four. Three people will need three wii-motes and...etc.

Overall

Overall, Wii Music is a very good game if you're a music guru. Bare in mind that if you have no Wi-Fi and only one wii-mote and nunchuk, it can get boring. The songs are limited and they don't have their original quality. The instruments make a pretty realistic sound and it's not too difficult.

4 Stars.

Hope this helped,
Alexander Banks
