regardless of their age or video game experience, to sit down and play together--whether they're in the same room or on different sides of the globe. The system's name reflects this simple idea. It's easily pronounced in a variety of languages, and the distinctive spelling suggests two players side by side. The two Wii features Nintendo thinks will create new levels of gaming community are built-in Wi-Fi access, supported by a new online gaming service, and Wii's intuitive, wireless, motion-sensitive game controller. As with every new console release, much of the buzz surrounds the specs. The system boasts 512 MB of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. Wii's technological heart -- a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named "Hollywood" -- are said to deliver stunning performance. Instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. The real revolution in this system, though, is its controller, called the Wii Remote. Shaped like a TV remote, it's been designed to be easily used by beginners and pros alike. Sensors determine the Wii Remote's position is in 3-D space, which means that racing-game steering and a tennis swing, for example, are done through movements of your hand rather than by just your thumbs. What's more, a tiny speaker built into the Wii Remote promises some interactive surround sound experiences. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analog thumbstick and trigger buttons. An adapter that fits over the Wii's wee remote will be available for those who prefer the feel of a traditional controller. The Wii Remote communicates via the Bluetooth wirele

This is something you can do from your console's main menu and is not part of the Wii Sports pack. Once you have created your own look-a-like you can then select them from within the Wii Sports game. By doing this your scores are recorded next to your Mii. Winning games increases your score average, with 1000 points giving you Pro status. Record scores are also recorded against your Mii. If ...

Advantages: Free, 7 modes in total, 5 different sport modes to play, lots of additional training modes Disadvantages: Graphics could be a little bit better. baseball feels a little TOO tough
...happen to be considering a Wii purchase in Japan, your Wii Console will come bundled with a full copy of Wii Sports; Nintendo's free bundled game which I feel adds extra value to your initial purchase. There's no escaping the fact that Wii Sports is not just a friendly gesture from Nintendo, but a "demo-of-sorts" for the fantastic Wii-mote controller and the accompanying Nunchuk. For those who have played older consoles, such as the PlayStation 2, ... ...is a little different.
Wii Sports comes with 5 different Sports games in which you can play through, as well as a Training Mode and a Fitness Mode. I'll go into the two latter modes in a little while, but first let us take a look at the main 5 Sports games
Tennis
---------------
Tennis is played using the Wii-mote on the Wii; the Nunchuk should be unplugged from the Wii-mote and left to one side. Playing the game is very simple in theory, with ...

Advantages: Huge innovation and fun for everyone Disadvantages: A little tiresome
KNOCKOUT! So the Wii console controller (dubbed 'Wiimote', or at least it is by me) screams out as you successfully win a boxing match. Or there's the noise of your bat hitting the ball when you're playing baseball. There's even a 'TIME OUT' shout when you have to pause the game for the sake of a family member risking all and running past to get to the other room as you're playing a game of tennis - you wouldn't want to hit them afterall, or would ... ...nowadays. Only you can't buy Wii Sports separately, so picking up this game will cost you the £180 that the console currently costs - but that's no big deal really as you couldn't play the game without the Wii anyway and it is an excellent purchase. Hence all the reports on the news over Christmas about sellouts. On Wii Sports there are a variety of sporting games to choose between, they are; tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. As soon as ...

...as a games console.
Wii sports consists of the following games: Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling, Boxing. You can either play against the computer or against friends. Plus there is a training options to help you improve your skill level on the Wii in each of the sports above. As well as fitness option which is like a mini gym session where you are given specific exercises to do and after completing them it gives you fitness age.
It is probably worth ... ...the sports you play in Wii Sports. This character also participates in other games on the Wii. It is a fun way of personalising your character in a game as well as recording your scores. I'm sure more is written about Mii's in the Nintendo Wii console reviews. Having a Mii is not essential and if you have friends who do not have their own Mii's for example, there a few few pre-set ''guest' Mii's that can be used.
Back to the gaming, TENNIS, is probably ...

Sporty Fun Review ofWii Sports (Wii)by

Advantages: Graphics don't over power the simple gameplay Disadvantages: Golf and Boxing could be better
Wii Sports is FIVE straightforward sports games on ONE disc. The games are:
Bowling
This is my personal favourite. With a little imagination the wiimote will turn into the bowling ball (albeit a lot lighter) and as such you should use the same actions as you would in the real game. Stand well back from the TV (if room permits), pull the wiimote to your rear, step forward and swing the wiimote as if it were the ball, thus launching the on screen ... ...my son really believes that he is getting fitter:)
Conclusion
Wii Sports is a great all-rounder set of games for everyone to enjoy and comes highly recommended from both my family and myself. It is stimulating though not overtly packed with redundant graphics, giving simple game play. ...
