I have been a customer with Windsor Life (formerly GAN & General Portfolio) for over 20 Years. Overall I have had very bad experience with this company.
Over the years I have noticed many errors on my yearly statements of varies policies I have with W/L. In order to sort them out I was kept hanging on the other end of expensive phone calls achieving nothing. When I wrote to W/L there was often no reply or like in many cases it took 6 weeks. Then the problem was not addressed and I would receive a wad of projections to encourage me to invest in more poor products.
In my experience W/L is not clear in presenting facts to the customer and repeat substantial errors (date of birth, maturity dates) over and over. That continues after repeated notification from myself.
The complaints by W/L are handled exactly as described in previous comments: with contempt and no regard for any rules and the Ombudsman service does not worry W/L either.
W/L have taken backdated charges from one of my investment funds which amounted to nearly half of the fund without informing me. Their reason was due an error they made years earlier. They believe that there was no need to inform me about this. It took me 2 years to actually get a clear answer. I ask you can this be the correct way of treating peoples investments and is this exceptable behavier generally?
Many thanks for allowing me to vent my frustration and I hope it is to some help.

We have policies with Legal and General, when we took them out we wasn't married, now 16 years after being married and no end of sending them copies of my marriage certificate they still send statements in my maiden name. I think all of these types of companies are the same.
