Pilates is a series of non-impact exercises to develop core strength, flexibility, and balance. However, if done wrong it can be quite ineffective. The great thing about Mari Winsor's DVDs is that she explains it extremely well, drops casual reminders throughouts, and most important of all - makes it fun.
When it comes to exercising I am very lazy, and can't really be bothered most of the time. However, this pilates programme is the only thing I have ever stuck to. It's fun as well as easy to stick to. Now, I actually look forward to coming home and doing some exercise!
I have been using these videos for about 3 weeks now, 5 days a week, doing the 20-Minute Workout on every alternate day 3 days a week, and the Accelerated Body Sculpting on the other 2 days. Already I have noticed some troubled areas (namely my thighs, arms, and torso) have already started to tone. As well as this, my posture and flexibility have improved, and I feel a lot more energetic than I used to be.
All of the DVDs have a modifier which is extremely helpful. When first starting out I was not flexible enough to do all the exercises exactly, but the modified exercises offer the same benefits. Also, doing the modified exercises I now no longer need to do them because I have found that I have become a lot more flexible now, and can do them all.
This is definitely ideal for those lacking motivation, and you only really need to do 20 minutes or so 3 times a week to see a difference.
A yoga mat helps a lot, especially if you have tiled or wooden floors, and they're not too expensive either.

Advantages: Good Posture, weight loss
Disadvantages: For beginners positions are difficult
I've watched the shopping channel ads with Daisy Fuentez getting super fit becoming about 3 inches taller with better posture and decided to have a go myself. I know that there is a breaking in period for your body, however my back and bottom couldn't take much more. Some of the exercises are good however there are a few that you have to roll about the floor, tiled floos not good for this type of exercise, and try to lift both legs off the ground ...
