Well I was as shocked and dissapointed as any when england didn't qualify for the EURO 2008. At the time I swore I wouldnt watch the football tournament out of spite. But now its here I have chosen where my loyalties lay.

Nomally, and i'm sure im not the only one, when england are knocked out which the usually are. I am forced to support or closest teams Scotland or Ireland. But alas they too were denied the oppertunity to the EURO 08 footy. So this time I have put my faith and support behind the country that I like to think of as my second home. True in blue, those bagette wielding french.

3 days ago I was there sunning myself (or not) in my second home in le France. I went to buy a barbaque from the local Super U (typical brits wanting a barbaque as soon as the sun is out). When I was there I saw an official france 2008 shirt for 8 euros. So needless to say I snapped it up.

So this time I am putting my wieght behind the french in blue (or white depending).

BUT a question I often ask myself, will it be full of as many hotheaded outbursts from the french team as last time they were in a major international competition? I am of course reffering to the fiasco concerning Zinedine Zidane and his memrobal head but. WIll the french team be the same without my mums sweet heart zidane? I dont know but he was a true asset to the french team with his experience and shiny bald head.

So I say I am supporting france this time round but who is it in this team I am supporting. Well here is the EURO 08 line up for the french team:
=Goalkeepers=

Gregory Coupet
Sebastien Frey
Steve Mandanda

=Defenders=

Eric Abidal
Jean-Alain Boumsong
Francois Clerc
Patrice Evra
William Gallas
Willy Sagnol
Sebastien Squillaci
Lilian Thuram

=Midfielders=

Lassana Diarra
Claude Makelele
Samir Nasri
Jeremy Toulalan
Patrick Vieira

=Attackers=

Nicolas Anelka
Karim Benzema
Bafetimbi Gomis
Sidney Govou
Florent Malouda
Thierry Henry
Franck Riber

Of course I am looking forward to france's first match against Romania. Should be an easy win for the french team I hope. We are in group C by the way.

OK end of you all hate me now because we should stick with england all the way. But they are not in it, it brings me to tears...
My main ambition for my team of choice in the EURO 08 is this:

I want france to play against portugal and WIN, Knock them out, And if possible for cristiano ronaldo to have his legs broken. No affence but he is the route of all evil and he ruined englands chances in the world cup.

France for Euro 08

watch what you wish for, as the saying goes. One day it might be you with a broken leg anyway it will be a better tournament because no England = no beered up fans, no WAGS, no washed-up ex players all over the telly

I'll be watching France with interest for the Arsenal players of the past, present, and possibly future lol. I'm surprised Raymond Domenech is still manager of France - am disappointed for Trezeguet who has been left out, despite a(nother) prolific season for Juventus in Serie A - but at least they've stuck with him (unlike too many football sides these days).
