It's lovely, full bodied, (not unlike myself!) and ultimately a very drinkable wine, which is what counts! Who would want to drink any old pap? Not me thats for sure! Goes great with meat (lovely with roast lamb on a sunday), ... ...salad...and I don't like to share it....poor old hubby can't get a look in when I have opened a bottle - any bottle for that matter! ;)
It has such a deep red rich colour and vibrant sort of berry and musky notes (heh, check me out, do I sound like I know what I am talking about?? - Don't answer that!)
My dad tells me it has "good legs" too... apparently, you swill the wine around the glass and if it leaves ... more
I love this wine. I love any wine normally. Yes, I like my booze. But that's a different story....
This is one of those wines where you just -know- when you open the bottle and let it breath, it won't let you down. Like a trusty friend that you turn to when nothing or nobody else will do...(see I told you I drank too much... look at the nonsense spilling out of my fingers in this review!)

Goes great with meat (lovely with roast lamb on a sunday), pasta dishes.. I like it with a nice pizza and salad...and I don't like to share it....poor old hubby can't get a look in when I have opened a bottle - any bottle for that matter! ;)

My dad tells me it has "good legs" too... apparently, you swill the wine around the glass and if it leaves a nice little sort of line around the glass, it means its good?! I don't know, I just trust my dad.. and he drinks WAY more wine that I do!
This wine benefits I feel from being warmer rather than cool, so if you leave it on a warm (not hot) radiator (or between your thighs!) for say, 20 minutes and then open it, it should be just lovely.. Drink and enjoy!
If you are lucky enough to have a cellar and can manage to not open it within half an hour of getting it back from the shops, then this wine will age beautifully (so I have been told!) for up to 5 years. I just wish I could wait that long!
Keep an eye out for special offers in Morrisons on occasions, as they have been known to do buy 1, get 1 half price (or something similar), and occasionally they do price reductions... be warned though, it flies off the shelf at our local supermarket, so get in there quick!
It normally retails for around £6-8 depending on who sells it.
...nice glass or two of Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvignon (2003 Yellow Label),a good book and lots and lots of candles. Tonight, alas, is not pamper night but I'm bored and fella less as he's gone out with the boys. So thought I'd share my (not yet drunken, hehe) musings with you.
~~~~~History of Wolf Blass~~~~~
The founder of Wolf Blass (cunningly disguised as Mr Wolf gang Blass) was born in the former East German Republic in 1934. He worked and studied ... ...aboriginal name meaning Eaglehawk and Wolf Blass wines was born. The Eaglehawk symbol was the emblem of the former East German Republic and now takes pride of place on the Wolf Blass bottles.
Wolf Blass have won a handful of awards for their wines and they include: The Jimmy Watson trophy winner (3 times) and in1992 Wolf Blass were awarded the International Wine Maker of the Year award.
Sooo, that's a (brief) history before moving on to the product ...
Advantages: Great on it own - Great with good food! Disadvantages: Not the cheapest wine on the shelf
...all have our favourties.
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my personal favourites. It stands out on the supermarket shelf - the gold eagle 'Wolf Blass' emblem and the label both suggest quality even without tasting it. If you have a display wine rack, it looks very good whatever other bottles you keep alongside it.
At the time of writing, ASDA are selling this at £8 for two bottles which I believe is great value, so I am trying ... ...difficult not to drink it faster than you can buy it, so stocking up on the stuff isn't quite as easy as it could be.
Serve it at room temperature - best opened in advance an allowed to breathe a little. Its deliciously full bodied and warming to drink with a touch of woodiness to it. To me, it tastes delicious and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a red wine drinker who hasn't tried it before (if such a person exits!).
I regularly drink it ...
Advantages: No hangover after 2 bottles!!!! Disadvantages: expensive
...Anyway, there were 2 Wolf Blass bottles......one of which is the yellow label and the other was a red label. I was so surprised at how easy this wine was to drink, the contents of whole bottle just disappeared. I didn't have a headache and my mouth still felt like it was attached to my face. The next morning I was surprised to find I was still OK. I have had quite a few bottles of this wine now, it does taste better left to reach room tempoerature ... ...it's still very enjoyable. It has a smooth, slightly fruity flavour and didn't make my lips or tongue go red.
The only drawback is the price. I have seen it in Tesco and Asda at £5.98 a bottle. I found that Tesco were selling it online at a deal of 6 bottles for £34.09 which isn't too bad. There appears to be slightly different label designs depending on the website/shop but it is the yellow label that you should look out for.
I've bought a lot ...
