long last everyone's favourite Nazi basher, B J Blazkowicz, is back inReturn to Castle Wolfenstein.Set during World War II,Return to Castle Wolfensteinfinds the Nazis dabbling in the black arts in an effort to raise a demonic prince from the dead and create an army of uber soldats. Naturally, Blazkowicz is the only thing that can stop this supernatural onslaught, so he's set behind enemy lines in an effort to stop Himmler and his evil lieutenant Deaths Head.On the surface, the single-player game seems like pure gold--after all, everyone loves blowing away Nazis. The graphics look great and the catacomb levels are non-stop action as the armies of the undead are intent on sucking your brains out and serving them up on a nice bit of Melba toast. But its not the longest game in the world and in the end does fall a little short of the standards set by titles such asHalf-LifeandMax Payne. In fact, the best thing aboutReturn to Castle Wolfensteinis its team-based multiplayer mode. Each multiplayer adventure features Axis vs. Allies and both sides offer four character classes: engineer (removes obstacles), medic (heals and revives team-mates), lieutenant (calls in air strikes and replenishes ammo) and soldier (only class able to use sniper rifles, flamethrowers and other unusual weapons). The game includes only eight multiplayer maps, but they are all perfectly designed, and in order to be successful teams have to work together. The result is a great gaming experience that fans ofCounter-Strikeor the Day of Defeat mode forHalf-Lifewill really appreciate.Graphically,Return to Castle Wolfensteinlooks amazing. It uses the powerfulQuake IIIengine to great effect and the character models, explosions and lighting effects are all perfectly done. --Jason Trebegger

Advantages: Fast paced action, nice weapons and abilities great atmosphere lots of blood. Disadvantages: Did not like the equipment-buing-upgrading system between the stages.
Wolfenstein was a highly anticipated game and to say the truth is not a bad game. You are the american agent Blazkowicz that travels to Germany during the World War II to investigate some nazi activities near the german city of Isenstadt. Your goal is of course killing nazis and investigate their sites.

You also can slow time later in the game and use more special abilities with a device which you retrieved from the germans. Also there are a plenty of futuristic weapons like the particle cannon with which the game becomes funnier.

Advantages: Chilling graphics, great sound, excellent story Disadvantages: Short, a bit easy
Do you like a game that has a story, rather than flashing lasers and unrealistic arenas? Then this is the game for you!
Continuing from the early 90's PC classic (before 3D cards were invented and Doom burst onto our PCs), RTCW offers the contemporary PC player a perfect mix between WWII wargame and fantasy.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game, and found nothing to get bored with, as I often do with some 1st person shooters. The mix of shooting and exploring was just right, and the movement throughout the game was serial enough not to get lost, without feeling locked into the flow of the story.
The bad guys are excellent - the Artifical Intelligence is so realistic it is genuinely scary. I liked the way the german soldiers attacked the goulish creatures as well as yourself!
The only downside I felt is that the game is not big ...
Advantages: Gameplay and sound Disadvantages: What happened to the mutts?
After spending many an hour scurrying around the original Castle Wolfenstein in my 386 PC all those years ago, I’ve been waiting a long time for this sequel to come out and I’m pleased to say that it does not disappoint.
The original game, Wolfenstein 3D, is singularly responsible for creating the whole First Person Shooter (FPS) genre for the PC. From this came Doom, Quake and all the other copy-cats like Half Life, Unreal and so on. Some of these games have extended and improved the genre, so Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RtCW) had a lot to live up to, and live up to it it certainly does.
The game is set in the war-torn Europe of 1943. You are B.J. Blazkowicz, a US Army Ranger working for a covert organisation called OSA (Office of Secret Actions) that is investigating bizarre rumours of occult activity being carried ...
