When I bought my first car around 7 years ago I went through a phase where I wanted to modify it. This including replacing the tired and very badly curbed alloy wheels already on the car, and it made good financial sense to buy a new set of alloy wheels and tyres. I used to dread cleaning my car because cleaning the alloy wheels seamed to take all day,I used to have multi spoked alloys and getting in between the spokes to remove brake dust,tar and built up grime was a right pain in the back side. I had tryed all them other products such as sprays and foams that you apply ,leave for a minute or two then wash off ,They removed some of the dust and grime but still left some on the alloy even after re-applying a couple of times. I have used this stuff for ages, cleans the wheels no problem. Brake dust just disappears, I never leave it on for a long time, basically, a quick brush on, agitate the solution on the rims, then hose off with cold water. Always either wear gloves, or have a sponge in a bucket of water close by, if this gets on your skin it gets pretty itchy, pretty quick!! I have never had a problem with the paint lifting off the rims, basically, if you are reasonably careful you will be fine.
