Well known, and used by the motor industry as the professional cleaning product, also recommended and approved by the majority of motor manufacturers, as well as AutoTrader, What Car, and AutoExpress. In fact, speaking of Auto Express, the Wonder wheels product is the number one selling and multiple award winning alloy wheel cleaner. Wonder wheels has won the Auto Express product honours for eleven consecutive years! OK that sounds like an advert, it is actually. I lifted it from the CarPlan site, have a look for yourself http://www.carplan.co.uk/index.cfm?page=1
Contents of cardboard box are, 500ml wheel cleaner, 1 application bristle brush and a dispensing container. This stuff is now also available in a "trigger bottle".
Instructions. To use, firstly I suggest doing this just after washing the car, that way a lot of the dirt will already have been loosened, then apply the cleaner to the wheel with the brush, it should produce white foam, after letting it soak in for a few minutes, rinse off. I recommend that you then dry with a leather, then apply polish, yes polish, this will help prevent the black muck from sticking in the future,
Price. 500ml will cost you £7.50 - £8 on average, which is fairly expensive to start with, although it does last a long time if applied sparingly.
Availability. You will find this product at places like Halfords, all the larger DIY superstores, and many motor accessory shops, especially Motorworld of course. The reason Motorworld sell it, is because they are part of the same group of companies, and the name on the box is actually CarPlan, a very reputable name.
Front wheels do tend to accumulate the most dirt, mainly due to the fact that the front brakes do most of the work. The black dirt you are removing is actually brake dust, in the good old days, this was mainly asbestos, which was a very good material apart from the health concerns. Unfortunately modern brake friction materials are not quite as good, so they do tend to wear, producing black dust. The dust is not harmful, just unsightly, especially as most alloys are silver, nice to look at but they do show up black dust.
While you are cleaning or polishing those nice sniny wheels, spare a thought for the tyres, firstly you may want to use one of the many products that make them shine, and secondly, have a good look while you are there, check the tread, is it wearing evenly? When did you check the pressures last? Are there any cuts, bulges, or other damage to the tyres?
My alloys consist of five big wide spokes, and they are easy to keep clean, but this stuff works best on the small fiddly multi spoke rims that are so popular now.
I thoroughly recommend this product - however - it is for alloy wheels which have been painted and lacquered, if this is not the case, do not use. The product contains acid, and this will eat into bare alloy.

This is undoubtedly the best wheel cleaning product - and I've tried most of them! I wouldcaution against using it on a weekly basis though, my four and a half year old Honda alloys are showing quite severe signs of alloy corrosion - partly I think due to over using Wonder Wheel. Wonder Wheel also make a very good tyre and rubber dressing product. Richard.

Good review. Hubby uses this and I have to admit that they shine for almost 2 days afterwards (Muddy drive) but will pass on the polish tip.

I am glad hubby and kids clean the car, I don't have to think about things like this! lol Rebecca Xx
Advantages: effective, easy, quick Disadvantages: nippy on skin, too expensive at Halfords (read review)
