We wanted a re-usable nappy as we did not like the idea of the disposables filling up landill etc (even with washes it will be better than making em from scratch each time). I did some research and wonderoos cam out top (see which review) The main features of this are it is essentially 2 parts. The first part is the nappy outer. This forms a pocket into which you stuff the liners. The liners you get with wonderoos come in 2 sizes (large and small) and how many and what type of liners you put into the nappy are upto you. If your baby is a heavy wetter you add more liners into the pocket outer (especially overnight). So Pros and cons...
Pros Nappy outers have poppers rather than velcro which last well The nappy outers dry very fast The nappy outers and liners wash well The nappies are adjustable so you only need one set from birth (see cons) easy to assemble and put on (as easy as disposables) they stop leaks (we have had very few accidents) The inner part of the nappy outer is fleecy and very good at wicking liquid away from the skin never had any nappy rash The starter pack they offer gives enough nappies with a wash every 3 days or so starter pack also comes with very good terry towelling cloths to use for cleaning the baby with a rough and smooth side (would recommend these to anyone) meaning we never need to use the disposable wipes
Cons Because the nappies are one size from birth the crotch is quite wide tending to splay the legs more The nappy is bulky and looks a lot bigger on the baby than a disposable which can affect how clothes fit The liners need washing several times before they reach peak absorbancy so either wash them 3-4 times or give the system time to get to full efficiency as the inners are upto you it takes some adjustment to get the absorbancy right. We bought some slim bamboo liners for overnight for the extra absorbancy
Overall I think these nappies are excellent and do the job well. The cons we could think of are no big issue as long as you give the system time. Would recommend these to anyone wanting to be a bit greener and still have a happy and clean bay
