It took Woolwich 2 months to issue a mortgage which was beset by delays, mistakes and lies. At one point the application sat dormant for three weeks because they weren't sure what type of survey was required. We have chased and chased this company and have been promised action 'tomorrow' countless times and each time, tomorrow never comes. On at least two occasions we've been assured the case was being escalated only to be told later by a different operator the case never was.
My advice for anyone who, like us, checked reviews after instructing them, is to identify contact details for the surveying company who will be only to happy to give you the truth about exactly when the survey was instructed and when the report was returned unlike the Woolwich who lied on both occasions claiming they instructed the survey when they didn't and didn't receive the (electronic) report when they did - blaming Royal Mail. From what I gleaned from the survey company and the incredible delays when waiting to get through, the Woolwich are struggling on several fronts. Please avoid if it's not too late.
