My daughter had some Woolworths vouchers for Christmas and i really didn't know what to buy for her. She loves to sing and dance so I thought maybe a CD player would be a good idea.
I headed to my local Woolworths and did a bit of comparison between the Stereo CD Radio Players (ie BOOMBOX) that they had on offer and although the Pink Boombox was not the best of the bunch, it was most definately the most girly, being a bright cerise pink.
It was also the most affordable, being only £19.99 in the sale and it had all the features that i deemed necessary for a two year old to sing and dance to.
It has a radio function with all the standard frequency options, is easy to tune and holds the frequency very well (no hissing or fizzing yet!!).
The CD functions are what impressed me the most though, because you actually get a lot for your money.
It obviously plays, stops, skips forwards and skips backwards, so you can search for your favourite tune, but it is also programmeable up to 16 tracks. Great for those CD's where you only really like a few of the tunes.!!!!
It has a repeat play single track feature so if you really want to you play play the same song over and over endlessly, and it has repeat play all tracks which plays the whole CD on a loop.
It has a "random play" function, which does exactly as it says on the tin! This is a great option for when you listen to a CD so many times you know what the next song will be. This way you get a surprise every time you listen.
Technically, its not the most advanced piece of equipment. The speaker output is only 2W + 2W so not too loud (which is actually a good thing cos my house is really small and sound travels far!!!), but you can play this on either batteries or from the mains so this is a travel friendly CD player.
It is really really pink!!! So only for the real girly girls out there.
The one main flaw I can admit to is the CD door. Its really wobbly and when you press it down to close it, it feels really cheap and plasticky. I was worried that it would break if you pressed it too hard, but its holding up so far.
There is no clock or alarm with this piece of equipment, so please inore the boxes below (the review wouldn't save unless i put something in the fields!!) and it doesn't play tapes, but overall I think it's well worth the money and is of suitable quality to last a good few years!!!
