The Worcester Greenstar boilers are probably the most overrated boilers on the market.
Often people argue that the boilers are very good quality German boilers, in reality these boilers are not German but are actually made Worcester, UK! I would not describe these boilers as "rubbish"or "unreliable" but rather over hyped and not worth how much there are.
Another thing about these boilers is that if you really wanted to get this boiler you would have to get the top of the range model to make your purchase worth it. The problem is that the standard and budget models are often not of the best quality. (i,Si and Junior ranges).
Durability:
The boilers are not the most flimsy but there are flimsy for their price; the lid of the controls is made of plastic which will eventually break and fall off, the key that is used to re pressurize the system is also plastic and can get lost easily.
Controls:
There are a few basic control options available but these are inferior to what you would get on a Vaillant, Viessmann or Broag Remeha for a similar price. The actual control panel is clear but a digital display which helps to diagnose faults easily is lacking on the mid range models and is only available on the CDI range, the budget end Junior range does not have a knob for adjusting the hot water temperature from the control panel. Faults are harder to diagnose by simply watching a single light flashing in different patterns. The Vaillant with it's "f","s" and "d" codes is far superior IMHO.
Dimensions:
The boilers like most boilers are designed to fit into most kitchen units. The Worcester Greenstar 30CDI is what I would fit if the customer insisted on a Worcester measures:
Height: 760mm Width: 440mm Depth: 360mm.
Customer service:
Worcesters customer service is something to talk about, it is undoubtedly the best customer service from a boiler manufacturer.
Ease of use:
The boilers are easy to use but when it comes to re pressurising the CH system things can get tricky; you must use the plastic key to fill the system, the plastic key is flimsy and more often than not will get lost.
Verdict:
You get a two year guarantee but can be five years if you get it installed by a Worcester accredited engineer.
The heat exchanger is made of Aluminium silicone which is not as good as stainless steel. Many better boilers are available for the same price.

The cheap key used to refill the system can break easily and get lost.
