I recently applied to Worcester and was offered a place to study Art/Design with IT joint honours. Part of the entry requirement was to undertake a three art week summer school. This I looked forward to but at the end of the first week I was kicking my heels. Yes I was out of term time and the students had mostly gone, but the city itself is very sleepy. Worcester is a lovely place with a Cathedral and river but the excitement level was close to zero. Students looking for a busy, lively venue will be disapointed. How much this improves in term time is hard to say, but the locals suggested staying away. The campus itself has good facilities and the tutors I met were great. This is the plus side - the campus is friendly and the tutors know their stuff. I enjoyed the course-work and thought about studying there, but decided that I would eventually find the area too boring. There are a number of bars and nightclubs to go at - the best of these was Bushwackers - an Ausie theme bar. The student union although closed when I was there is modern with sky sports, pool tables and dance floor and does look good. The sporting facilities are very good with a brand new sports hall. I would recommend the University itself as this was of a good standard, but I would not choose it personally because of the limitations of the city.
