I originally joined an ISP called Screaming.net 2 years ago becuase they offered 24/7 internet access free of charge for £9.99 a month. A bargain i thought, and all I had to do was change my phone company. Well i signed up and for 6 months everything was great, then, DISASTER. Screaming.net was bought out by World Online. Well now im beginning to panic, "what if the charges go up??". Everything thing settles down and only a slight price increase was introduced - i was now paying £15 a month for the same service.

Ok, im now a customer of World Online, nevermind ill manage, after all its not as though i've lost my 24/7 free access - oops i spoke to soon. 3 months down the line and i receive a letter telling me that World Online is cancelling their 24/7 access and that now ive got to pay £15 a month for 100 hours free - well of course i was annoyed but still, its better than BT, so I remained a customer.

Well, now its April and World Online has recently been bought out by Tiscalli and im back to my 24/7 access and once again being charged £15 a month for the privellage.

To be honest i am not impressed with these companies at all and im writing this review more as a warning. The techincal and customer service is non existant, often i know more than their entire help team added together so when i have a problem i have to wait weeks for a reply. Their phone bills are, to say the least, strange and increadibly user unfriendly and all their "bonus" services are charged at an extremely high rate. The internet connect is magic. Although not in the positive sence, it manages to stay connected, but not pass any information to my modem - in effect, im connected to the internet but i cant do anything online. If you like playing online games this is a nightmare, because it means at any time the game will suddenly drop even though you're still connected. Downloading, well im not even going to go there, simply say that unless you're going to do it at 3am the best rate you'll get is about 3k. True, it is still better than BT, but if i'd known this was going to happen 2 years ago, id have simply got ADSL.
