A top performer and musician!
Review of Blown Away - Stuart Cassells by dmilligan935

Advantages: Great all round cd for traditonal and modern pipe music.
Disadvantages: Not enough Tracks

...of a new CD and blown away is that CD. The Album contains 11 tracks in all with a hidden track at the end. The cd contains a mixture of more traditional ballads to energetic tunes that some of his mates join him in. 1. Big Al's? - It is not Big, but it is very clever. This track features the tune from the famous piper Fred Morrison, Alasdair's Reel. The tune is wonderfully arranged by Stuart and is a great track to start the cd off. 2. The Paps ...
...Isle of Jura( Composed by Don Bradford). The isle of Jura is Famous for its Paps - and so is Kirsteen! Kirsteens jig is a wonderful tune that creates a nice build up into Don Bradford's great tune. 3.The Snuffmaids Welcome to Glasgow - The Snuffwife (Trad), The Kitchenmaid (Trad), Nelson Mandela's Welcome to Glasgow (Blair Douglas). Here stuart plays a few traditional reels followed by one of Blairs most famous tunes, probably because of its name. ... Read review

Top class Cd from a top class pipe band
Review of On Home Ground Vol.2 - Simon Fraser University Pipe Band by dmilligan935

Advantages: Good mixture of traditional, solo, and modern music.
Disadvantages: 1st volume is slightly better

...of the best solo players on the seen at the moment, Emancipation is another Simon Fraser classic, and the finishing track the cape Breton fiddlers is something that you have to listen to because there isn't many words that can describe it and with many of the tracks have supporting instruments makes it cd worth listening to people that don't even know much on piping. ... Joćo Gilberto - White Album (1973)
Review of Joao Gilberto - Joao Gilberto by Morellli

Advantages: composition, vocals
Disadvantages: none

Anybody can recognize "The Girl From Ipanema", it's a classic. But where did it come from? Where did Bossa Nova spread its roots? Pianist Tom Jobim is credited for the composition of most of the classic Bossa Nova standards, but is was Joćo Gilberto who took these standards, and interpreted on the guitar what we now identify as Bossa Nova. By harmonizing the chords on the guitar with the traditional Brazilian Samba rhythm, Gilberto evolved Jobims' ...
...virtuous, but what really captures me is his voice. He sings with a "blown" quality as if he is blowing air from his gut, which produces an intimate close-to-the-microphone sound. It's possible to hear his lips smacking dryly during the pronounciation of certain words, and he has an excellent vocal amplitude, using mostly low-pitched but well chosen notes. This album is fun to compare to his other work, as over the years his performances have become ... Read review

An Album for Meditation
Review of Incantation - Tim Wheater by newbee123

Advantages: Very spiritual atmosphere with perfect vocals, chorus and flute.
Disadvantages: Track 7 which feel odd to the others

...in flute solo. Incantation is voted as a best new age album of 1999 in New Age Voice Magazine. "Incantation is an exploration of my inner journey to a place of open-heartedness" Tim says. Tim has done a perfect job in his flute solo and vocals, almost all tracks with a harmonic chorus and female soprano vocals perfectly boost up a very spiritual atmosphere of the music. Some tracks add in a bit of oriental element. The highest climax of this album ...
...came to the early parts of the album and after that you may fall asleep to the rest! It should have another one or two climaxes follow up. Track to track 1 En Trance ~ 5/5 The album opening with a dramatic drum play and a strange female vocal, a nice start in a very energetic and soothing melody. Then follow by a segment of instrument play, thereafter a flute floating in the air. The flute, the percussion, the female vocal and the chorus playing
