A company that has changed its name more times than it has sent me bills in the last two years has to be recommended to all. After all, if you don't have a bill, there's no need to pay them anything yet!
However, it has to be said that this company (now called NetNet, and formerly ACC Telecom) is altogether cavalier with what it promises, for what it delivers fails utterly to match up. New computers have received much of the blame from their staff when you finally get through to their customer services freephone helpline. And it is just as well that the line is free, since you can be sure that you will have to wait some 15 minutes as a minimum, listening to one of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. Great if you like good music, less great if you dislike a six minute movement being reduced to a one minute circular tape!
However, when they do send bills you are little better off, as they are about as accurate as they would be if you threw darts at a board to decide the numbers and duration of calls. In fact, they do usually get these right, only they seem unable to add the total up correctly, nor to apply the discounts which are in their terms and conditions.
So, unless you have no choice, I suggest you avoid this company at all costs, lest you end up with all the costs. On the other hand, if you're a student who has no choice (and prefers Tel It to the potential health risks of the ubiquitous mobile phone), go for it because it will probably be so long before you get a bill that you will have graduated and they won't know where to send it!
-------- Update 21/5/2001
Well, they've called in the receivers (or administrators, at least) - I can't say I'll be sorry to see this company go under if that's what happens. Of course, they have only themselves to blame. After all if they don't send out bills for months and then the ones that they do send are wrong, it's not surprising that no one pays them!!
Anyway, I just thought I'd point out that anyone with a Tel:It card who did receive a letter saying that they are going to remove the nominated number discount system and also remove the minimum charge -- they've changed what they are pleased to call their minds, so you will not be benefitting from this. However, I personally think that the change in terms and conditions cannot be made retrospectively in this manner and thus if you have made short calls because you believed that this change had been made, pay only what you think is reasonable and insist that they stick to the contract of which their letter (whether they like it or not) forms part.
Advantages: Cheap! No bills? Disadvantages: Poor customer service, no bills?
When I signed up for WorldXChange's Student "TelIt" card, I was in halls at uni and had no choice. About half way through the 1999-2000 academic year, they stopped sending me letters, bills, communiques of any type!
It's been almost a year now since I had my last bill from them, but this is even after I signed up with their Residential Service, which I expected to be better.
WXC's telephone service is appaling. I frequently spent 30 minutes on ...
