As with any yearly update this isnt massively different to the last game in the series: it features plenty of celebrity snooker players, (rubbish) commentary from John Parrot and John Virgo, plenty of game modes and online play on the Xbox. Although there is a tutorial mode, the game is intuitive enough for you to pick and play from the off, especially if you start the career mode and begin to slowly work your way up the ranks with your own custom character.The biggest challenge in the game though is having the will power to turn off all the control assists which initially help to make the game so easy to play. A new cue ball position zone marker makes things a lot easier than previous games, as does helpful aiming arrows indicating when and how hard you should hit a ball. Lining up shots still isnt quite as easy as it should be though and altering the strength of the shot on the right analogue stick also feels less accurate than it should do. There are a few bugs and glitches too, particularly around foul balls. Graphically the game wont win any awards, with poor animation and zombie like players, but thats really not what the game is about. Until next year at least this is the best, and only, next gen snooker game around.HARRISON DENT

This game has six modes of play which I will list below although I can only give information on four of them as the other two modes I have not done myself as yet but as soon as I have i will update.
The ... ...start at 52nd in the world and your player stats are really poor you have to pre qualify for tournements and if you win a match you earn points these points can then be used to build up your player stats and also earn you ranking points to put you higher up and nearer to becoming number one in the world.
In this mode the tournaments you play are opens,masters and world championship.

The two modes I cannot comment on are the hybird mode as i have not yet played it and also the golden cue mode as you must play through the championship mode to unlock this mode, and as yet I have not unlocked it and that is why I am unable to really comment.
TUTORIAL MODE ******************** This mode helps you to learn how to play the game which is great espescially if you have never played it before. This mode is really helpful as it learns you how to take shots,line the cue ball,how to add spin,how to position your cue ball and how to pot balls.
CHAMPIONSHIP MODE ***************************
This mode is really good as you get to play against well known players such as Steve Davies,Steven Hendry and Ronnie O'sullivan. When you start this mode you start at 52nd in the world and your player stats are really poor you have to pre qualify for tournements and if you win a match you earn points these points can then be used to build up your player stats and also earn you ranking points to put you higher up and nearer to becoming number one in the world. In this mode the tournaments you play are opens,masters and world championship.
9 BALL MODE **************** This mode is the american pool game and this is also a tournament game. The table colours change from time to time there is a red table and a blue table. There is a disadvantage to playing on the red table as you can hardly see the balls as the ball colour quality is really poor. The idea of this game is you have to pot the nine ball to win and you have to hit the balls in number sequence one to nine but you can hit the right number ball to pot the nine ball or you can play till you reach the number nine ball.
TRICK SHOT MODE *********************** With this mode you can really show off to your mates,choose a trick shot from the menu highlight to demonstrate so you can see how the trick shot works and then give it a try yourself. Once you have tried every single trick shot available you can then play the trick shot challenge and really show off your skills.
These are all the modes you can play on this game,no matter which mode you play the gameplay is really fantastic on each and every one. The graphics are quite good although poor colour quality on the balls the tables look just like the real thing and colour on them are great.
The way you control your cue and angle are the same in all modes, There are loads of different buttons to use when making a shot,The things to do are as follows: You can put spin on the cue ball by pressing B and the directional pad. There are different angle views so you can view which is the best shot to take, You can hit the ball fast or slow as there is a power bar that you can change to the desired speed.
My partner and I play the championship mode as the commentaries from John Virgo are really good and quite funny,he says things like "has he forgot the rules its the white you want to hit with the big long stick" and "I think ill order a curry it looks like we are gonna be here a while"
This is all round a really great game you can play the amount of frames you want you can choose one frame,three frames or nine frames dont worry if you dont have time to spare for nine frames as the game has auto save so when you switch off your xbox 360 you can go right back to where you left off when you go back to it even if you are half way through a match which is great as you dont have to start over.
This game is really ideal for all sports fans and I highly recommend it to anyone who love these sort of games although it can be very addictive to play my partner is never off it which is great when you want a few hours peace.
This game costs £25 to £40 from any leading games store such as game station you may get it cheaper though off ebay.

You start out with low stats and a low ranking (so have to play through qualifying rounds against lowly opponents to reach the tournaments proper) but as you start to win games you earn points which can be converted to skill enhancements (such as improved potting, spin, safety etc) and your ranking improves.
The game can also be played in three different formats, short, medium and full, typically ... ...The choice will probably depend on how patient you are and how much time you have on your hands...
...and you will need LOTS of time to play this and get the most out of it. Normally I go for games which are fast, fast, fast, like Need for Speed, fast and tactical like Rainbow Six or fast and crunchy like Gears of Phwoar (Phwoar as it looks PROPER SEXY on my new Samsung telly - see my reviews of both for more if you're interested). Advantages: lots of snooker and pool to play. Disadvantages: commentary gets repetative after a while.
i have found world snooker championship 2007 on the xbox 360 to be a fantastic snooker simulation game.
the commentary is good and the graphics are excellent and the controls are very straight forward basicly pick up and play.
you can create your own character to use which is a good feature as it gives that sense of playing as yourself.
the best feature of this game is the new positional play where you get a black circle showing you where the ... ...much easier to plan your next shot, i found this makes the game way better than previous versions.
although this has snooker in the title you can also play the pool championship either the 8 ball or 9 ball games are available to play.
there is also a trickshot mode to play and online multiplayer mode too, if you like snooker then you will be playing this game for ages. ...
