Let my start off by saying that if you are thinking about buying this book and have not yet read Max Brooks' other book (The Zombie Survival Guide - Complete Protection from the Living Dead), stop reading this review and go buy yourself a copy right now. It's a must have for all zombie fans.
With that said, onto the review.
World War Z is an amazing book by the equally amazing writer Max Brooks. The way Max Brooks tells his stories, you would easily believe that the Zombie apocalypse has already happened and he is writing from a post apocalyptic world in which zombies, are still a small threat.
The book is set out into a number of different chapters, with the first chapter telling the story of the beginning of the zombie outbreak which takes place in 2012. Each chapter after that one progresses along the timeline of the outbreak, until the last chapter which deals with the end of the outbreak. Within every chapter there are stories from "eye-witnesses" from countries all over the world that lived through the outbreak (from soldiers and government officials, to average everyday people), describing their experiences and feelings as they and their communities were ravaged by the undead threat.
Max Brooks finds a way to make everything in this book 100% believable, it's as if he's actually spoken to people that went through a zombie outbreak and spoken to government officials about how they would deal with the threat. Everything in the book seems feasible and nothing seems too outlandish or absurd.
In closing, if you are a fan of anything relating to zombies in some way (aren't we all), I highly recommend this book to you. You won't regret it.
