World Books? More like World CROOKS! Luckily I got out of doing business with them after just less than a year. I too was tempted by the 'Get XX books for just 1p' introductory offer, so much so... more

Advantages Advantages cheap books as a come on

Disadvantages Disadvantages It could be expensive

World Books is one of those companies which you can just grow to hate. They play a hard game but it's one that you can win if you go in with your eyes wide open and know some of their tricks. If you follow my guidelines you can come out on top. Apart from that, I would not advise anyone to go for WB. First, the basics. WB just love to attract nice impulsive people who look at their extremely tempting ads, promising books for almost nothing, and sign on the dotted line without a second thought. Lots of people join up and according to their own figures they have approximately 900,000 members in ... more

    Advantages Advantages Entry deals

    Disadvantages Disadvantages cancelling each month

Since starting my new found hobby of reading, I have joined a couple of book clubs, one of them being World Books. World books have members in excess of 600,000; and have been going for many years now and are owned BCA (British Club Associates) who also own other well known companies including BOL, Just good books and Mango. I admit I was tempted by the offer I saw in a magazine where you could get six gardening and thriller books for less than a £1.00 each, each one was worth substantially more. You should also remember that if you fail to meet your agreed purchases (i.e. four books in the ... more

    Advantages Advantages There are none

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything about them

It all sounds so appealing doesnt it, you get a flyer, or see the website and it says "get 6 books for 1p each, plus a free book" and you think great im having some of that and off you go checking through the offers and filling in the form, either online or on the flyer. One word of warning - DONT DO IT!! Okay so thats three words but it all means the same thing, i urge you NOT to go anywhere near this company for the reasons i am about to tell you. About a year ago when i was living at home, they contacted me and said that i owed them £21 for some books i had ordered and not paid for. My ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages EVERYTHING!!

okay....so you see a leaflet in a magazine. It looks good, full of books. Your into your reading and you see that you can have 6 books for a penny each. You think to yourself why not, i love reading this could be a good chance to stock up the old bookshelf. You read the small print...only commitment is to buy 4 books in one year.... FANTASTIC!!! You send of the completed leaflet, filled with your choices, quite happy that this could be a great thing. One year down the line you will end up thinking to yourself alot more than simply "that was a pain in the bum" (i'm trying to remain very calm ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap Books (To Start)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Far To Many To List Here

I first joined World Books about 5 years ago. I love to read and was more than happy to receive 5 or so books for 1p each as a joining offer. It worked well for me for a while and then I stared receiving titles I had not ordered (the editors choice). You do have to remember to turn this down if you do not want it, and it can be a real drag. I order the designated amount of books as advised and cancelled my membership. Then sometime later I joined again, the same thing started happening. I again cancelled the membership. Now, call me stupid, but I have just joined again (if you leave a six ... more
