...First off if you are looking for a 28 inch television under £450 then this JVC all rounder is definitely worth investigating. Its picture quality is very impressive and sharp for this price level, showing colours clearly and brightly. The 100hz picture scan (twice as much as the typical 50hz picture scan for this price range) ensures the picture is less blurry than many of this tv's competitors, and text can be clearly read on screen without straining your eyes, unlike on some cheaper televisions. The AV-28X4's sound quality is decent enough, but you can get better for the money. Unusually the speakers are below the screen, rather than each side, meaning the stero sound effect is not as noticeable as on some televisions. Disadvantages: Mediocre remote control, clumsy to use. Slow to read discs on startup or switch function. Occasional hiss on surround audio

...The price of the 709 makes it an excellent budget player that is as good as the more expensive players, Also with the 709 the easy multi-region "hack" makes it a very good feature of the player with details of this hack widely av on the net through many of the dedicated web sites for this excellent dvd player. Overall this player is a highly recommended choice if you want to experience the world of DVD.The features include ZOOM, 3D SOUND ENHANCMENT,2X 4X 8X & 16X FAST FORWARD/REVERSE, DTS etc, set up is a piece of cake and the instruction book is well written.
