In my opinion the XBOX 360 is the best current gen console out there. Ive had my XBOX 360 since January this year and its been great until now. I was playing Guitar Hero 2 and the game froze i turned the console off and turned it back on when i got 3 flashing red lights (ring of death) I emailed microsoft and got a reply within 24hours which told me to take the harddrive out and try it but it still wouldn't work so i called
them and after being on hold for about 20minutes i was told i would have to send it to them and they emailed me a UPS label to put on the box for my XBOX 360 they came the next day and i am waiting for it to be returned at the moment.
On the Upside the XBOX 360 is a great console with outstanding games such as Gears of War, Dead Rising, Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion and Rainbow 6 Vegas. The 360s online play is outstanding through XBOX Live which is easy to set up and use and with the recent update which allows MSN Messenger to be used makes it even more user friendly.
The competetion: First of all there is the Wii I belive the Wii is fun for about a week until the novelty wears of and you really want to play a good game. When i first had my Wii I loved it i played it for about 7 hours the first day i got it and loved it, it was great fun I couldn't put it down and i still only had Wii sports. Then as the weeks went on i was playing it less and less to the point of which where i wasn't playing it at all, so I decided to trade in my PS2 and get a few Wii games i got Zelda Twighlight Princess a great game but it wasn't my cup of tea again i played the hell out of it for a week and then i found myself doing other things and my Wii just sat there. I also picked up Wario Ware Smooth Moves which is also a great game for a while but i soon got bored of it. The third game i purchased for my Wii was Wii Play I only purchased it for the Remote which i believe is quite expensive considering there is also the Nunchuck which you have to purchase to properly play most multiplayer games in the end you have to spend around £45 to play with your friends, whereas with the 360 you can pick up a wired controller for £25 and a Wireless for £32 the wired can be used at no extra cost to play on your PC which is also a big plus. In the end i sold my Wii on ebay and actually ended up making a profit as i sold it for more than i payed for it. Overall i think the Wii is good but it lacks any really good games to back up the novelty of the first week.
The 360s other competition is the PS3 I haven't ever owned a PS3 but I have played its top Titles for quite a while. Initially i was quite impressed with Motorstorm as the Graphics were great and it was fun to play and it really showed what the PS3 could do. Then I played Resistance Fall Of Man after all the hype I had Heard about this game I was expecting it to rival Gears of War the 360s best shooter. My initial reaction was pretty poor it looked and feeled incomplete and all the reviews i had heard all the hype of it being amazing it really just felt average thats the whole feeling i get from the PS3 average and for something than costs £400 I really expected better than average. Me and my friends decided to have an online game of Resistance i was really looking forward to it as the stories my friend had told me of how good it was the only problem was it wouldn't work time after time we tryed to play but it simply wouldn't work, so many people complain that you have to pay for Xbox Live and I can now see why you have to pay as its such a great experience shouting at someone if they've just blown your head off on Gears of War or laughing your head off when you completely embarrass someone on Pro Evo the 360 is so much more user friendly than the 360 and thats why I will not be buying a PS3 or Wii as the 360 has the initial great fun when you first play but it has the high quality games to keep you hooked and keep you playing.
One of the things which I believe will win the console war for the 360 is the line up of games this year for the XBOX 360 is trully oustanding with many huge games like Halo 3, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4 which has exclusive multiplayer BETA on the XBOX 360 and my personal favourite Grand Theft Auto IV the most anticipated game of the year GTA IV on the 360 will include 2 exclusive episodes which the PS3 wont get.
Overall the 360 has got this Generation in the bag if it can sort out its hardware problems if not, I could see the Wii winning if the Wii releases lots of high quality games this and next year i would maybe consider purchasing one again, but until such time I am quite happy playing my 360 (when i get it back)
