Hmmm you might be reading this review if you can't decide between the Xbox 360, and the PS3. Well then you're reading the right review since I had to make the same decision. The Xbox 360, with its recent price cut is great value for money. Much lower than the PS3- here are the lowest prices I found on the COMET website for each console -Xbox 360- £144.99 ( to think i bought it 4 '£250 Yeeshk!) -PS3- £249.99 -Wii- £139.00
Here we see that the Xbox 360 is the lower priced than PS3 and only a tenner more than a WII ( like OH MY GOSH) -this xbox has a 20Gb harddrive which is probably decent enough for just playing games but if ur a person who wants to make most of their xbox 360, the new xbox 360 pro with a 60GB hard drive is well worth the extra £25, at £169- still cheaper than the 40GB £249.99 PS3. In a standard premium Xbox 360 box you will find:
- A Xbox 360- looks much better than the original one- nice white finish, sleek, Next Gen
- A wireless controller- YAY noo wires how amazing, and u can switch the xbox on from the controller and switch it off from the controller- no need to get off ur lazy ass!!! and if ur sum healthy guy get the WII LOL
- A headset- great for chatting to friends and for Xbox live- i also hear that it can me used in some army games to give commands- i mean how cool is that- u can feel like a real army dude
- 20 GB HDD hard drive- this is more than enough if you're just going to use the Xbox primarily for games however if you're going to put many movies and music onto it you might run out soon- advantage of the PS3- you get 40GB which is pretty huge for
a console. HAHA not anymore with the new xbox pro with a 60GB harddrive- WOW
-1 month gold membership free trial-1 month is a enough time and you can see how good Xbox live is. Usually £39 for a year and some updates cost money grrrrrr - however i guess microsoft use this money to improve their services, since they such a honest company- :P NOT- PS3 has live which is FREE!!!!
- A very short Ethernet cable- annoying since if your internet connection is away from the room you put your Xbox in you'll have to get a extension or the Xbox wireless card- roughly £60 - how expensive :( - thats the advantage of the PS3. A built in wireless adaptor and its FREE online.
Well before the xbox 360 had so many more games than the PS3 but were in 2009 BABY, and things have changed, so both consoles have a decent range of games. The good about the PS3 is that its compatible with nearly all the old PS2 and PS1 games without having to update the PS3 console- yet the 360, a lot of original xbox games werent compatible with the 360, including my FAV GAME! and if they are compatible u have to update it, which requires you to connect your xbox to the internet- if you cant do that, then no old games for u.
Aesthetics The 360 looks so much better than the original one- it has a sleek finish with changeable face plates so you have an Xbox that suits you and your style. Its size is 31 x 8 x 26 cm and it weighs 3.5KG. Not that heavy really. One thing which annoys me is that it has a huge external black box which you need to get electricity to the 360. I like most things tidy so this is a disadvantage for me however if you don't really care about these things then forget I mentioned it. However technology is advancing so fast, i read today they will be soon wireless electricity soo maybe in the not so distant future this wont be a problem
Noise Well. When you have an original Xbox game in it is fairly quiet I would say or if you're watching a DVD or just on the Xbox 360 menu. BUT when you put the 360 game in, *?**- man it is load! like a baby sleeping at nite. The only thing you can reli do is put the volume up. Annoying if you want to play late night and you don't want ur parents to hear cos they probably will unless ur far away from them in the house or if there deep sleepers!- which my parents arent. The PS3 is comparetively quiet- like a 80 yr old sleeping!
Xbox live First thing- Xbox live will always best online console- however saying that my friends have told me that the PS3 online has hardly no lag and is alright online- but there is a larger community for Xbox 360 online. (Gold Xbox live enables you to play against other people. Silver is free and enables you to download games and other stuff on Xbox 360 but not play against other people) I think the Xbox gold is £39 for a year which ent bad but annoying since PS3 is free. Anyway, after I set it up with my free 1 month free trial for gold we can start playing against other people. You even have a cool communicator which you use to talk to other people and laugh at them if you beat them ahah. And you will normally find at least one person to play against on Xbox live- loads of people play it from around the world from Australia to England to even India and many other countries. Another good thing is that you can download free demos of new games coming out. YAY
Music You can transfer all your music to the Xbox to listen to them while you play on a game. Since the Xbox has USB ports you can put a pen drive in it to transfer to music. I have not found a game yet which you can access ur music directly through the game however you can switch the music on through the Xbox 360 menu and then play the game and listen to the music. How wonderful. My friend informed me that you cannot play music while playing a game on PS3 but he just uses his hi-fi or laptop to play music. UPDATE- some new games and new updates on the PS3 have enabled you to play your own music in the games- MAN techonology making it hard for me to help you make a decision on which ones better!
Little things which make the Xbox great You can turn the Xbox 360 on through the controller and switch it off. No need to get up off Ur seat which is a good thing if you're a lazy person like me. Can talk to people through msn message if u have Xbox live. Xbox 360 records ur achievements in games which you can compare against other people on xbox live and also on some games it matches you up with people who the same achievements as you so u don't get a match where theres reli good people and reli bad people.
Annoying things To watch HD DVDs you have to buy a external HD adaptor which last time I saw costs £100!!!! which brings it up near enough £249 anyway The PS3 already has a blu ray player which is great.
Some original xbox games don't work on the 360 which is a nuisance if you have a whole collection of old xbox games. However if you have connected the 360 online you can get an update for the game and then you'll able to play it.
You can't download things through xbox live while playing a game
Summary
well well well, which one wud i recommand you buying- recently there improving thier own features which had previously made the other console great- one of the main reasons i bought the Xbox 360 was cos i have tons of old xbox games to play on it, but thinking about it, i hardly play those games cos they look so awful after you see the top notch graphics- i wud say if you just want to enjoy games and not pay much, get the xbox 360, but if you want to watch high def movies, listen to music and play games, and dont mind to pay a little extra, then the PS3 is for you, If your somewhere in between, then thats youyr fault for being awkward:P i joke lool, the xbox 360 is for u then!
thanks for reading, hope it helped! have a nice day!

(+) Plenty of storage space, for media. Good Games, Great for partys, with singstar. Very Reliable. (-) Sometimes the optical drive, breaks; but not very likely, my 60gb still working after 2 1/2 years.
Excellent review to start off with. Welcome to Ciao. ^_^

Great review, although this makes me want the ps3 more than the 360. Sounds like the extra I would pay to get it working wirelessly, on xbox gold and on being able to play dvds means it would work out costing more than the ps3. If you look on ebay you can get some great bargains, with the ps3 costing as little as 200 pound. In general great review, now I know that the ps3 is definitly the console for me!! Feel free to browse any of my reviews, cheers!!
