Microsoft's Xbox 360... this console was and is a highly anticipated piece of engineering genius, which successfully re-shaped the way modern-day gamers play.
Microsoft have created several different types of Xbox 360's since the origional Xbox 360 'Core' was released several years ago: Core, Arcade, Premium and Elete aswell as other custom built models including the dedicated 'Halo - Xbox 360', with a Halo themed print around the outside.
The 'Core' opened up the series with a disappointing 0 mb of storage. This meant everyone had to purchase a bunch of memory cards before saving their games and storing music. But this console was and still is capable of playing all Xbox 360 games... as you would undoubtedly expect.
Microsoft quickly picked up on their embarrasing mistakes, producing a second version known as the 'Premium'. This console looks identical to it's younger brother, but boasts an impressive 20GB worth
of space, capable or storing hundreds of songs, many videos and countless saved games... Finally a hard-core hard-drive was born through the ashes of the core!
Next in the ever-brightening collection rose the 'Arcade'. This console is a cheap alternative which is capable of playing all of the more impressive 360 games... This console focuses on the many thousands of arcade type games available today. There fun, but I would still recomend the Premium deal for its large hard-drive.
Finally, after a few years of constant enhancement to their already powerful Xbox 360 Premium, Microsoft created the 'Elite'. Indeed this newer, more powerful, death-black console is truely an awesome buy! It contains a 120GB hard-drive for christ sake! The only change in appearance is its jet-black colouring, which personaly I prefer to the futuristic white of all their other models. You will never fill this machines storage as long as you live, and thats why the Elite comes at a much larger cost in comparision to all the others.
The outer shell of an Xbox 360 is beautifully futuristic and fresh. For me this consoles form wipes the floor of any close rivals it may have (...ofcourse I'm refering to the PlayStation 3 here). The controller is easy to hold and all of its buttons and nobs lie in the perfect position for an ease of in-game play. The headset sits nicely across the top of your head and connects into the base of the controller securly and with great ease. It may make you look like a complete geek but who cares to be honest... it allows you to chat to people you don't know and abuse them!
The dashboard will appear after turning on the console, either by using your wireless controller or by pressing the large, round on-button located on the front of your machine. Here you are given the oppotunity to broze your machine: upload and play music or videos, have a look at some free demo's, check the current status of your console, check which of your buddys are online or simply play the game in your tray. # You can also change the background of your dashboard to themes you have downloaded or ready uploaded themes given to you by Microsoft. Another way in which new arcade games, themes and films can be purchased is through the collection of Microsoft points which can be exchanged for particular goods. These points are earned by reward or simply buying them yourself.
All Xbox 360 games have very impressive graphics as they all run off the same unique Microsoft engine. Games such as Oblivion, Assasins Creed and Grand Theft Auto IV look particularly stunning and have taken a very long time to create. The atmospheric and environmental detail is spectacular in most games. Character looks and movements are realistic and portray real beings.
There are litterally hundreds of games available in every catagory for the Xbox Core, Premium and Elite. Strategy's, FPS's, OMG's and simple singleplayer games all exist and are excelled in each catagory. I couldn't posibly list a selection of games for I wouldn't know where to start. All I can say is the ones I own myself and I find most entertaining are Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar Games) and Assasin's Creed (Ubisoft).
Check out the following websites for great deals on all the Xbox 360 packages...
