The original xbox 360 was a brilliant but flawed console. It offered a unique and unrivalled gaming experience, an experience that i still think it offers today. The features it offers (such as party chat, good quality voice chats and a large marketplace) set it aside from its main competitor, the PS3.
Dont get me wrong, I dont hate PS3's. I own one of each console. I can honestly say though that the xbox offers a much better exprience than the PS3. It my not have some of the brilliant PS3 exclusive titles, but the xbox is all about the live, and the reason you have to pay for xbox live and not psn is simply because xbox live is an unrivaled online experience the Sony have yet to match.
The xbox is not the perfect console by any means. It was plagued with the Red Ring of Death. I myself sent my console back to germany 3 times because of this issue. It was a killer, and cost Microsoft millions.
However, with the release of the Xbox Slim console, the problem seems to have gone away for good now. I am yet to have run into an issue with the slim. Its simply a fantastic console.
The PS3 does have some good features though, such as Playstation Home, a virtual world and social network. However xbox has recently revamped their dashboard yet again, releasing a horde of new features.
For example, if you own a windows 7 phone you can now use it as a remote to control your xbox. There is also kinect, the motion sensor that allows you to control the xbox and play games without the need for a controller. Xbox has also introduced apps for the dashboard, so you can now get things like sky player, youtube, iplayer, zune, 4od, demand 5 and much more on the console.
All of this has transformed the games console into a complete media hub. You can play games, watch tv and films, keep up to date on social networks and more. I definitely recommend an Xbox, either for the family or just for yourself!
