After having 5 children in 7 years the weight just kept being put on. At the age of 17 I was 8 stone then I got pregnant one after another and by the time I was 24 I was 17 stone in weight. I was so unhappy, it got me depressed as I kept trying everything to get rid of all the extra weight I had put on but nothing would work. I tried all the diets, slimming products and even weight watchers but nothing helped.
I then went to see my G.P. in June 2001 and asked if there was anyway that he could help. He told me there was a new diet tablet come out called xenical and I should give it a go. He also told me xenical cost £1 per capsule.
He told me I had to lose 2.5kg over 4 weeks by myself first before I could have it. So I tried really hard and managed to lose the 2.5kg.I went back to see him and he prescribed me xenical. He told me what I should and shouldn’t eat and what side affects they have.
Xenical are blue capsules, which contain 120mg of orlistat. They are an anti obesity agent, but does not suppress your appetite. The recommended dose is one 120mg capsule taken with each of the 3 main meals per day. You can take it immediately before, during or with in an hour of eating. Also it should be taken with a well-balanced calorie controlled diet and you MUST NOT consume more than 30mg of fat a day. And between meals you must not eat fatty foods. If you don’t eat a meal or have a meal containing no fat you do not need to take the xenical. If you don’t lose 5% of your body weight that you started at in 12 weeks then you should stop taking it.
SIDE AFFECTS - you may need to open your bowels a lot more, have wind and have oily discharge, oily or fatty. (These side affects go away after a while.) You may get a rash, difficulty in breathing; nausea, vomiting and you may get a feeling of being unwell. Also if you eat too much fat in the day you will get diaorehha, which will be orange in colour. If you are pregnant or breast feeding you MUST NOT TAKE XENICAL.
Xenical doesn’t work for everybody but if it does for you the weight will come off. Your dress size will decrease and you’ll be able to wear the clothes you’ve always wanted to.
By the September came I had lost 5 stones in weight and was 12 stones. I was a size 16-18 and was loving life again. Xenical can work wonders. I am so happy that I tried xenical as losing the weight it gave me my confidence back.
You can get xenical on prescription from your doctor or you can buy it from various places. So if you try it good luck.
Xenical works by stopping the body absorbing the dietary fat and then your body gets rid of it in your stools.
I found it very hard at times to not eat things i wanted to but had to be strong and watch what i ate but all my hard work did pay off and it could for you.
If you do miss a dose DON'T panic, you can take them for upto 1 hour after your meal. If you do forget then just carry on as normal with your next meal.

Advantages: Losing weight is easy and you don't have to give up your favourite foods, great support offered, lots of local meetings during the day and eveing Disadvantages: Weekly fee can make it an expensive way to lose weight
