I am overweight and ill every time I go to my GP he says its down to my weight that I am ill. Ok so why is everything down to weight. I have always been on the large size. But to prove a point asked the doctor what the best way of losing weight was so that it doesn't go back on. He told me to lose 5% of my body weight in 1month and if I did I could go on to Xenical (Orlistat). So off I went and started watching what I ate as I would normally but we have to try. Made appointment to see GP for 1months time. When I went back yeah I had lost 2kg (4.4lbs) so he gave me a prescription for xenical. So went to pharmacy and got these little blue capsules. Then read the instructions to be taken 3 times a day when you eat meals. Ok no one warned me about the after effects if you over do the fat. Oh not a pretty site.
They do have a support group which you have to register with if you want to. You receive a welcome pack with a tape measure and info and they also send updates and free vouchers as well. I have registered with them and yes they ring you to see how it is going and find out if there are any problems with these tablets. So support is there if you want it. The nurse recommended around 5g of fat per meal as you body does need a certain level. Also she told me to take multivitamins as well as these tablets may cause vitamin defiency.
So been on them now 1month and back to visit nurse today for weighing. Wow another 2.6kg (6.4lbs) so great in just over one month thats 1/2 a stone only 5 stone go lol not really. So if your doctor suggests you go on this tablets yes they do work but you have to be care full of what you eat. Otherwise it is a horrible side effect. You also may notice that you break wind more but again be aware that it may be more than you bargained for. The oily substance can escape when you break wind. But you always get side efeects with everything so if you are aware of them then you can be prepared.
Hope this helps you. Yes they do work. But to buy them privately they are expensive around £1.00 per tablet my GP told me.

Advantages: Steady, safe weight loss. No side effects if used properly. Disadvantages: Loose stools and wind (but only if you don't follow the advice given).

Advantages: Losing weight is easy and you don't have to give up your favourite foods, great support offered, lots of local meetings during the day and eveing Disadvantages: Weekly fee can make it an expensive way to lose weight
